Pay Item Limit

Form ID: (MP.PP.22.20)

The Pay Item Limit form is opened by selecting "Limit" from the More Settings dropdown on the Pay Items (MP.PP.22.10) form. On this form, you can configure a maximum limit for the selected pay item.

Form Toolbar

The form toolbar includes only standard buttons. For the list of standard buttons, see Form Toolbar and More Menu.

Summary Area

This area displays the details of the pay item whose limit you are configuring.

Element Description
Pay Item ID The unique name that identifies the pay item.
Description The detailed description of the pay item.
Active Whether or not the pay item is currently active.

Limit Calculation

In this section, you can activate a maximum limit for the pay item and specify how it should be calculated.

Element Description
Maximum limit applies If this check box is unticked, there is no maximum limit for the pay item. Tick the check box to activate a limit for the pay item and enable the fields that let you set the limit.
Limit the calculation using one of these rules Specify how the limit should be calculated. Select one of the following options:
  • An Amount
  • Calculate the Limit (per pay) using a percentage calculation
  • Calculate the Limit (per pay) using a rated calculation
Depending on the option you choose, different fields will appear below.
Table 1. AmountThis section lets you calculate the limit when the "An Amount" option is selected.
Element Description
An Amount Enter the amount of the pay item's limit.
per Specify the period that the limit applies to. Select one of the following options:
  • Pay
  • Week
  • Month
  • Quarter
  • Year
Limit is Select one of the following options:
  • Money
  • Units: as entered
  • Units: Standard Hours per pay
Table 2. Percentage CalculationThis section lets you calculate the limit when the "Calculate the Limit (per pay) using a percentage calculation" option is selected.
Element Description
Percentage Enter the percentage used to calculate the limit, e.g. 10.000 for 10%.

  • Income eligible for Superannuation - AU only
  • Income eligible for Payroll Tax - AU only
  • Item qualifying for Work Cover - AU only
  • Income eligible for KiwiSaver - NZ only
  • Income eligible for Relevant Daily Rate (RDR) - NZ only
  • Item qualifying for Holiday Pay - NZ only
  • Selected Pay Items (Summed)
Table The table at the bottom of this section displays the pay items that will be summed and used to calculate the pay item's percentage value. Selecting any option other than "Selected Pay Items" will pre-populate the table with the relevant pay items. If "Selected Pay Items" is selected, use the toolbar controls to add the pay items to be summed.
Table 3. Rated CalculationThis section lets you calculate the limit when the "Calculate the Limit (per pay) using a rated calculation" option is selected.
Element Description
Use Employee's Rate Select this option to calculate the limit using one of the employee's defined pay rates. When this option is selected, you must select the rate to use from the dropdown next to this option.
Use Custom Rate Select this option to calculate the limit using a rate you specify here. When this option is selected, you must enter the rate into the field next to this option.
Units The table at the bottom of this section displays the pay items that will be summed and used to calculate the pay item's limit. Use the toolbar controls to add the pay items to be summed.
