General Ledger Purpose

On the General Ledger Purpose form, you can create GL purposes, which determine how a pay items will behave when being posted to GL journals. GL purposes are grouped into Posting Classes on the Posting Classes (MP.PP.10.30) form.

The main displays the details of each GL purpose.

| Code | A unique ID code for the GL purpose. |
| Description | Descriptive text for the GL purpose. |
| Type | The type of account that the GL purpose represents: Expense or Liability. |
| Active | Whether or not the GL purpose is active. |
| Liability Group | This tells the system what the GL Purpose relates to and how it should be grouped for reporting. |
