Platform: 2FA Enforcement Expanded

In MYOB Acumatica 2026.1.1, we're expanding increased 2FA enforcement to cover a wider range of licence types, including partner users, and expanding it to New Zealand sites, where previously only Australia sites were included. These changes are intended to protect sensitive company and personal information and stay prepared for possible regulatory changes.

This means that the Forbid Login with Password option will be mandatory for all users (NZ and Australian) with specific payroll licences and roles. These users will not be able to log in using the password-only method (the green button). They must login using 2FA via MYOB ID (or another 2FA method if it is set up for your site).

We're also changing when enforcement takes place for existing users. Previously 2FA was only enforced when updating an existing user, but with 2026.1.1 it is turned on automatically.

Affected Roles and Licences

With this version, the affected users are those with the People Payroll User role, as well as at least one of these licences:
  • People User
  • MYOB_Partner
  • Full User

This includes users who have other licences or role in addition to the licences above. User roles and licences that are for employee self-service are not enforced.

Obsolete User Types Removed

To simplify user management, we've removed the Report Designer, OData, API and Device Hub user types. In prior versions of MYOB Acumatica these user types were automatically included as system options, however in practice they did not serve a useful function and were rarely used.

Access to API, OData, Report Designer and Device Hub is controlled by the licenses assigned to users rather than the user types. User types are designed to restrict which roles are available to specific categories of users, e.g. external vendors or factory staff, so aren't generally applicable to the kinds of users that need these specialised licenses.

Note: When you update to 2026.1.1, these user types will be cleared from any user to which they are assigned. All user licenses and roles will be unaffected.

AD User Issue Resolved

In addition to the improvements above, we've resolved an issue with 2FA enforcement that was causing an error when configuring AD Payroll Admin users.
