Manufacturing: Enhanced Processing of Inventory Transactions

MYOB Acumatica 2025.2.1 introduces a streamlined approach to releasing manufacturing-related inventory transactions. The system now releases a full manufacturing document and updates production within a single, connected transaction—making the release faster, more reliable, and easier to manage. This unified process also improves traceability across inventory, costing, and GL entries.

Additionally, Version 2025.2.1 introduces a smarter way to calculate variable overhead costs for production orders.

New Process Setup

To start using the new process, perform these simple steps:

  1. Select the Use New Release Process check box on the Production Preferences (AM102000) form.
Figure 1. The new check box

  2. Create a new numbering sequence on the Numbering Sequences (CS201010) form.

The system needs this numbering sequence for transactions of a new type—production-linked inventory transactions—to make it easier to distinguish them from transactions created using the legacy process.

  3. Specify this new numbering sequence on the Inventory Preferences (IN101000) form, which is shown below.

Unified Inventory Release

All inventory transactions generated by manufacturing—both stock and non-stock—are now consolidated, allowing you to release them as a single document through the Release IN Documents (IN501000) form. Production is updated in the same transaction scope, reducing the risk of data gaps or out-of-sync processes.

New View of Production Transactions

See exactly which transactions were processed—inventory movements, journal transactions, and any linked cost transactions—on the new Production Transactions (IN308000) form, which is shown below. This form simplifies transaction traceability and improves auditability.

Real-Time Variable Overhead Costing on Transaction Release

You no longer need to wait for a move transaction to see your true production costs. Variable overheads based on labor or material are now applied as soon as the labor or material transaction is released, giving you instant visibility into overheads for both production and disassembly orders.

How You Benefit

  • Greatly reduced data release issues: A fully connected release process means less room for transaction mismatch, orphaned updates, or reporting discrepancies.
  • Less manual troubleshooting: Elimination of partial data updates reduces the need for support calls and post-release correction efforts.
  • More reliable tracking of the financial impact: With production and inventory updates happening at the same time, the GL and cost effects are easier to audit and align.
  • Accurate WIP totals and no surprise cost spikes: See true WIP values even before move transactions.

Upgrade Note

After an upgrade to Version 2025.2.1, variable overhead is calculated as follows:

  • For production orders with linked documents created before the upgrade: When a move transaction is released
  • For production orders created after the upgrade: When a labor or material transaction is released

Key Takeaways

  • Inventory and production data is released together, not separately.
  • The new Production Transactions form offers full visibility into processed results.
  • A dedicated numbering sequence lets production transactions be identified at a glance.
  • With overheads now captured at the moment labor or material transactions are released, you can monitor true production costs in real time.
