Move

Form ID: (AM302000)

On this form, you can enter the quantity of completed and scrapped items for the operations of production orders. A single move transaction can include lines for any number of production orders. When you enter a completed quantity for an operation that is not the last operation of a production order, the system moves the completed items to the next operation of the production order and assigns the Completed status to the current operation. For the last operation of the production order, the system creates an inventory receipt on the Receipts (IN301000) form to track the movement of the completed items to storage.

Alternatively, you can enter the quantity of completed or scrapped items by using the Labor (AM301000) form. You may want to use the current form instead of the Labor (AM301000) form if you do not need to enter labor time for particular operations, such as when labor is backflushed for these operations.

Tip: In move transactions, you can include operations of only regular production orders—that is, orders whose production order type has the Regular function selected on the Production Order Types (AM201100) form.

Form Toolbar

The form toolbar includes standard and form-specific buttons and commands. For the list of standard buttons, see Form Toolbar and More Menu. The form-specific commands are listed in the following table.

Button Description
Release Initiates the release of the transaction, which changes the status of the transaction to Released.

Summary Area

In this area, you can enter the basic settings of a new move transaction. You can also select an existing transaction by its batch number to view or modify the transaction's settings.

Element Description
Batch Nbr.

The reference number of the move transaction.

The number is assigned automatically or you specify it manually, depending on the settings of the numbering sequence specified in the Move Numbering Sequence box on the Production Preferences (AM102000) form.

Status

The status of the transaction set by the system.

The option in this box can be one of the following:

  • On Hold: The transaction is a draft and can be edited. You cannot release the transaction.
  • Balanced: The transaction has been validated by the system and is ready to be released. You can put the transaction on hold to modify or delete it.
  • Released: The transaction has been released. You cannot modify or delete the transaction.
Hold

A check box that indicates (if selected) that the transaction has the On Hold status and can be modified or deleted. When you clear the check box, the status is changed to Balanced.

The check box is selected for new transactions automatically if the Hold Documents on Entry check box is selected on the Production Preferences (AM102000) form.

Date

The date when the transaction was created. By default, the system inserts the business date, but you can change this date.

You can enter only a date that corresponds to a financial period that has been generated on the Master Financial Calendar (GL201000) form. If the date that you enter belongs to a financial period that has not yet been generated in the system—for example, for a date in the distant future or past—the system will display an error message, and you will not be able to save the document.

Post Period The financial period to which the transaction amount is posted. By default, the period is calculated based on the date and the defined financial periods in the system, but you can change the period.
Description A brief description of the transaction.
Control Qty.

The control quantity of the transaction. You enter this quantity, and the system makes sure that it is equal to the value in the Total Qty. box. If the quantities differ, an error message is displayed, and you cannot release the transaction.

This box is displayed only if the Validate Document Totals on Entry check box is selected on the Production Preferences (AM102000) form.

Total Qty. The total quantity of the transaction, which the system calculates as the sum of the values in the Quantity column.

Table

Each line in this table contains the quantity for a particular operation of a production order.

The table toolbar includes standard buttons and buttons that are specific to this table. For the list of standard buttons, see Table Toolbar. The table-specific buttons are listed below.

Button Description
Line Details Opens the Line Details dialog box, in which you can assign lot or serial numbers to the units of the item in the selected line when you are entering quantities for the last operation of the production order.
Attributes Opens the Production Attributes dialog box for the line that you selected before clicking this button. In this dialog box, you can view the attributes assigned to the specified production order and enter attribute values.
Late Assignment

Opens the Late Assignment (AM312000) form for the production order specified in the Production Nbr. column of the line that you selected before clicking this button.

You use the Late Assignment (AM312000) form to assign the lot or serial numbers of the produced items to lot- or serial-tracked materials. You must assign the serial numbers before you release the transaction if all of the following statements are true:

  • On Completion is specified in the Require Parent Lot/Serial Number box of the production order on the Production Order Maintenance (AM201500) form.
  • The last operation of the production order is specified in the transaction line.
  • You have entered the quantity of completed items in the transaction line.
Table 1. Table Columns

The table toolbar includes standard buttons and buttons that are specific to this table. For the list of standard buttons, see Table Toolbar. The table-specific buttons are listed below.

Column Description
Order Type The type of the production order that contains the operation for which the completed quantity is being entered in this line.
Production Nbr. The reference number of the production order that contains the operation for which the completed quantity is being entered in this line. A production order is available for selection only if on the Production Order Maintenance (AM201500) form, it has the type selected in the Order Type column of this line and it has a status of Released, In Process, or Completed.
Inventory ID The identifier of the item being produced.
Subitem

The subitem of the item specified in the Inventory ID box.

This column is visible only if the Inventory Subitems feature is enabled on the Enable/Disable Features (CS100000) form.
Important: The Inventory Subitems check box has been removed from the Enable/Disable Features (CS100000) form because the functionality associated with the Inventory Subitems feature will be phased out. If you have this feature enabled in your system, the associated functionality remains available. To disable the feature, contact your MYOB support provider.
Operation ID The identifier of the production order operation for which the completed quantity is being entered in this line.
Quantity

The quantity of completed items for the production operation.

If the Quarantine is selected as the scrap action for the specified operation on the Production Order Details (AM209000) form, in this column, you enter the quantity of scrapped items. The system copies the value you enter to the Scrapped Qty column of this line.

If you need to correct the completed quantity entered in a labor or move transaction that has been released previously for the same operation, you can specify a negative value in this column. See Reversal of Production Receipts for details on how to reverse production receipts if the previously released transaction represents the completed items for the last operation of the production order and the system has created an inventory receipt for the items.

UOM The unit of measure used for the item quantity.
Warehouse

The warehouse where the completed items are moved if this line represents the completed items for the last operation of the production order.

By default, the system inserts the warehouse specified in the production order. You can specify another warehouse, if needed.

Location

The warehouse location where the completed items are moved if this line represents the completed items for the last operation of the production order.

By default, the system inserts the warehouse location specified in the production order. You can specify another warehouse location, if needed.

Lot/Serial Nbr. The lot or serial number assigned to the items in this line if the items are lot- or serial-tracked. You click the line and then click Line Details on the table toolbar to open the Line Details dialog box, where you can specify the lot or serial numbers.
Expiration Date The expiration date of the items. You must specify a value in this column if for the lot class of the lot number assigned to the items, the Track Expiration Date check box is selected on the Lot/Serial Classes (IN207000) form.
Receipt Nbr. The reference number of the inventory receipt that recorded the movement of these items to a warehouse. You must specify the receipt number in this column if both of the following conditions are met:
  • You have specified a negative quantity in the line.
  • The item has a valuation method of FIFO specified on the Stock Items (IN202500) form.

The system makes sure that the quantity in the line is less than the quantity in the receipt; if it is not, the system displays an error message.

Qty Scrapped

The quantity of items that were scrapped during the operation.

You enter this value manually if the operations has the No Action or Write-Off scrap action specified. If the operation has the Quarantine scrap action, this box is unavailable. When you specify the scrapped quantity in the Quantity column, the system copies the entered quantity to this column.

Reason Code

The reason code, which provides the GL account that the system uses for posting the cost of scrapped items if the option in the Scrap Action column is Write-Off or Quarantine for the production order operation.

You must enter a reason code when you record scrap for an operation with one of these scrap actions.

Qty Is Scrap

A check box that indicates (if selected) that the quantity specified in the Quantity column is the scrapped quantity. The system selects the check box when the scrap action of the operation is Quarantine, a reason code is entered in the Reason Code column, and a value is entered in the Quantity column.

Note: This column is hidden by default. You can display this column in the table by using the Column Configuration dialog box. For details, see Table Layout: Process Activity.
Scrap Action

The scrap action, which the system copies from the operation settings on the Production Order Details (AM209000) form. You can select another scrap action if needed.

The scrap action can be any of the following:

  • No Action: The system does not calculate the scrap cost separately. When workers record scrap in a move or labor transaction for a production order, the system adds the scrap cost to the total cost of the production order.
  • Write-Off: The system posts the scrap cost to the scrap expense account. A reason code specifies the scrap expense account and subaccount.
  • Quarantine: The system posts the scrap cost to the scrap expense account and creates an inventory adjustment for the scrap quantity and value.
Note: This column is hidden by default. You can display this column in the table by using the Column Configuration dialog box. For details, see Table Layout: Process Activity.
Table 2. Line Details Dialog Box
