Transfer Assets

By using this form, you can transfer fixed assets.
Depending on whether the Multiple Base Currencies feature is enabled on the Enable/Disable Features (CS100000) form, you can transfer assets as follows:
- If the feature is enabled, you can transfer assets between branches of the same company, asset classes, and departments of a single branch.
- If the feature is disabled, you can transfer assets between branches that use the same base currency, asset classes, and departments of a single branch.
The following assets cannot be transferred on this form:
- Assets with the Suspended and On Hold statuses
- Assets with the Active status in the posting book, whose Depr. to Period specified on the Balance tab of the Fixed Assets (FA303000) form is later than the Transfer Period specified on the current form
Form Toolbar
The form toolbar includes standard and form-specific buttons and commands. For the list of standard buttons, see Form Toolbar and More Menu. The form-specific commands are listed in the following table.

Prepare | Initializes the processing of the transfer transactions that you have selected: prepares the transactions for posting, or releases the transactions and changes their statuses to Released or Unposted, depending on whether the Automatically Release Transfer Transactions check box on the Fixed Assets Preferences (FA101000) form is selected. |
Prepare All | Initializes the processing of all listed transfer transactions: prepares the transactions for posting, or releases the transactions and changes their statuses to Released or Unposted, depending on the Automatically Release Transfer Transactions check box on the Fixed Assets Preferences form is selected. |
Selection Area
In this area, you can specify criteria for the fixed assets to be selected, as well as options that affect processing.

Company |
Required. The company to which the asset to be transferred belongs. This box appears on the form if the Multicompany Support feature is enabled on the Enable/Disable Features (CS100000) form. |
Transfer Date | Required. The effective date for the transfer. |
Transfer Period | Required. The effective financial period of the General Ledger transaction. |
Reason | The reason for the transfer. |

Branch |
Required. The company branch from which you want to transfer assets. This box appears on the form if the Multibranch Support feature is enabled on the Enable/Disable Features (CS100000) form. If a company without branches is selected in the Company box of the Selection area, this box becomes read-only and is automatically filled in with the setting specified in the Company box. |
Department | The department of the branch from which you want to transfer assets. Select a department or leave the box blank to view the assets of all departments. |
Asset Class | The class of the assets you want to transfer. You can select a class or leave the box blank to view the assets of all classes. |

Table
In this table, you can view the list of assets that meet any criteria you have specified in the Selection area. You can transfer all the listed assets or only the ones that you select in the list, and create (and, optionally, release) the appropriate transactions.
The table toolbar includes only standard buttons. For the list of standard buttons, see Table Toolbar.
Column | Description |

Included | An unlabeled check box that you select to include the asset in processing if you click Prepare. |
Branch | The branch of the company to which the assets are assigned. |
Asset Class | The fixed asset class to which the assets belong. |
Asset ID | The fixed asset ID. |
Description | The description provided for the asset. |
Parent Asset | The parent asset to which the assets are assigned. Any given fixed asset can have only one parent asset. |
Basis | The depreciable basis, which is the amount that is allocated over the useful life of the asset. This is a system-generated value; the amount of the depreciable basis depends on the depreciation method applied to depreciate the asset. For some methods, the basis can be equal to the acquisition cost minus the salvage amount. Also, you can adjust the basis amount based on the percentage of business use, the bonus amount, and the Tax 179 amount. |
Currency |
The currency in which the amounts related to the asset are stored. This setting is copied from the Fixed Assets (FA303000) form. This column appears on the form if the Multiple Base Currencies feature is enabled on the Enable/Disable Features (CS100000) form. |
Receipt Date | The date when the asset was received. |
Useful Life, Years | The period of time, in calendar years, during which the asset is supposed to be used. |
Transfer Period | The effective period of the GL transaction related to the transfer. |
Fixed Assets Account | The Fixed Assets account (an asset account) used to post the actual costs of the fixed asset. |
Fixed Assets Sub. | The subaccount for the transaction. The subaccount is automatically changed if the asset changes its location. |
Tag Number | The tag number of the asset. Depending on the settings on the Fixed Assets Preferences (FA101000) form, the tag number may be the same as the inventory ID of the asset. |
Fixed Assets Account Class | The class of the Fixed Assets account. |
