To Use Products in Wikis

In wikis, you can group articles based on the product the articles apply to. When you create a new article, you can apply it to one product or multiple products, based on the article content. When you perform a search, you can select the product that the articles you're seeking apply to.

You can use the Wiki Products (SM200524) form to define products for wiki articles and manage the articles that apply to a product.

To Add a New Product

You can add product by using the Wiki Products form as follows:

  1. On the Configuration tab, click Document Management. In the left pane, click Configure > Wiki Products.
  2. In the Product ID box of the Summary area, type a short name for the new product.
  3. In the Product Name box, type a descriptive name for the new product.
  4. On the form toolbar, click Save.

To Apply Products to Articles

You can assign articles to a particular product on the Wiki Products form as follows:

  1. On the Configuration tab, click Document Management. In the left pane, click Configure > Wiki Articles By Product.
  2. In the Product ID box of the Summary area, select the product.
  3. On the table toolbar, click Add Row.
  4. In the Article ID box, select an article that applies to the product.
  5. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for every article that applies to the product.
  6. On the form toolbar, click Save.

You can also select products that a particular article that you're editing applies to. You do this by using the Wiki Editor Form for Articles as follows:

  1. Open the article.
  2. On the help toolbar, click Edit Current Article to open the article for editing.
  3. On the Product tab, click Add Row on the table toolbar.
  4. In the Product ID column, select the product.
  5. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for every product the article applies to.
  6. On the form toolbar, click Save.
