Picking and Packing Operations: Changing Picking Locations During Picking
In MYOB Acumatica, pickers can change the location of the unpicked quantity in a shipment directly on the Pick, Pack, and Ship (SO302020) form. This capability is useful if the full item quantity isn’t available for picking in the current location. For example, some units may be damaged or missing, or they may not have the expected lot or serial numbers.
Updating Picking Settings
To enable pickers to change picking locations, a warehouse manager must select the Allow Picking Location Changes check box on the Warehouse Management tab of the Sales Orders Preferences (SO101000) form.
Changing Picking Locations
To change a picking location on the Pick, Pack, and Ship (SO302020) form, the picker selects the line of a loaded shipment and clicks Change Location on the table toolbar of the Pick tab. The system opens the Change Location dialog box. In this dialog box, the picker reviews the value in the Remaining Qty. box—the quantity to be picked from another location or locations. The table of the dialog box includes all locations on which the item is available for shipping. The item quantities in these locations are shown in the Available for Shipment column.
- If the item’s lot number was allocated in a sales order, the system shows available quantities at other locations for only this lot.
- If the item’s lot or serial class has the User-Enterable issue method, available quantities are shown without lot or serial numbers.
When the picker selects a location in the table, the system increases the value in the Qty. to Pick column for this location by the lesser of the following values:
- The value in the Remaining Qty. box
- The value in the Available for Shipment column for the selected location
Each increase reduces the value in the Remaining Qty. box accordingly. If needed, the picker can select multiple locations. Once the remaining quantity becomes 0, the picker clicks Change and the system updates the shipment as follows:
- If the full item quantity is picked from one new location, the system replaces the location in the original line.
- If the full item quantity is picked from more than one location, the system creates a new line for each additional location.
The picker can continue picking the shipment.
Tracking Allocations for Updated Lines
A warehouse manager can view location overrides in real time. If a picker changes the initial location and picks items from multiple locations, the system automatically updates the line on the Shipments (SO302000) form as follows:
- Inserts <SPLIT> in the Location column on the General tab for the updated line
- Adds a line split for each location in the Line Details dialog box, which opens when the warehouse manager clicks Line Details on the table toolbar
If the picking location is changed for an item on a Wave or Batch worksheet, the system adds a row for each new location in the Pick List dialog box of the Picking Worksheets (SO302500) form. The system also temporarily creates an additional SO Allocated item plan (a system record that represents a planned allocation of inventory) for the quantity picked from the new location. This item plan exists only during picking and is removed when the shipment is marked as Picked in the worksheet.
Viewing the History of Changes
On the History of Picking Location Changes (SO406020) inquiry form, a warehouse manager can view shipments whose locations have been changed by pickers.
