Shop Floor Kiosk: Getting Started

In this topic, you’ll learn how to access the kiosk, identify yourself, work securely on shared workstations, and sign out when your work is complete.

Accessing the Kiosk

The Shop Floor Kiosk is accessed through a dedicated kiosk workstation, such as a shop floor tablet, touchscreen monitor, laptop, or shared production terminal. The kiosk runs continuously and remains available for production employees throughout the shift.

When the kiosk opens, the landing page displays:

  • A Sign In button
  • A list of operations currently in progress on the shop floor
  • Real-time production information, such as active operations and remaining time

The landing page is visible before employee sign-in and is designed to remain continuously available on shared workstations.

Signing In

To begin working in the kiosk, you identify yourself as a production employee.

To sign in:

  1. On the kiosk landing page, click Sign In.
  2. In the employee selection dialog box, select your employee name from the list.
  3. Wait for the home page to open.

After successful sign-in, the kiosk displays the employee workflow interface, including your available navigation options and your employee name in the top pane.

Depending on your current work status and assignments, the home page may display options such as:

  • Work in Process
  • Work Centers
  • Production Orders
  • Recent Activity

The options available to you depend on your assigned work centers and current production activity.

Attention: If you cannot sign in or do not see expected options, contact your system administrator or production supervisor.

Understanding Shared Workstation Usage

The Shop Floor Kiosk is designed for shared production-floor workstations used by multiple employees during a shift. A workstation may be shared across multiple work centers or production areas.

Because multiple employees may use the same device throughout the day, you should always verify that:

  • Your name appears in the top pane after sign-in
  • You are reporting against the correct operation
  • The previous employee has signed out before you begin work

The kiosk provides visual confirmation when an employee session is active and returns to the landing page when the workstation becomes available again.

Session Timeout

For security and operational consistency, employee sessions automatically time out after a period of inactivity. The default inactivity timeout is three minutes. After timeout, the kiosk returns to the landing page.

If your session times out while you are still working on an operation, your production activity remains recorded in the system.

Signing Out

When you finish working at the kiosk, you should sign out so that another employee can safely use the workstation.

To sign out:

  1. Click Sign Out in the top-right corner of the page.
  2. Wait for the landing page to reappear.

After sign-out, the kiosk returns to the shared landing page and becomes available for the next employee.

Attention: Signing out of the employee workflow interface does not automatically clock you out of production operations. If you are actively working on a non-backflushed labor operation, make sure you complete any required production reporting actions before ending your shift or leaving the workstation.
