Assigning Roles to Users in the Portal

Roles determine which forms and actions are available to portal users in the Modern Customer Portal. Each role includes a defined set of access rights, and every portal user must have at least one role. Roles can be assigned to portal users by:

  • An administrator in MYOB Acumatica
  • An authorized portal user directly in the Modern Customer Portal

When you create a contact—an employee of your company who will use the portal—it becomes visible in both MYOB Acumatica and the Modern Customer Portal. You assign one or more roles to the contact, causing a record for the corresponding portal user to be created on the Users (SM201010) form of MYOB Acumatica. The user can then sign in to the portal and access forms based on the assigned roles.

In this chapter, you’ll learn:

  • Which predefined roles are available in the Modern Customer Portal and what access rights they include
  • How to create a case to ask an MYOB Acumatica administrator to assign roles
  • How to assign roles to contacts directly in the Modern Customer Portal
Important:

If the expected functionality isn’t available, contact your company’s portal manager. The portal manager can work with the portal owner to review configuration settings, if needed.
