To Modify Active Clauses for an Advanced Filter

An advanced filter may contain active and inactive clauses; each clause is represented in one row of the table on the Filter Settings dialog box for the filter. When a filter is applied to a form, the active clauses are applied to the records in the list, and the inactive clauses are ignored. You can easily modify the advanced filter by changing the active status of the clauses before the filter is applied, as described in this topic. For details about the syntax of clauses, see Managing Advanced Filters.

To Modify Active Clauses for an Advanced Filter

  1. On the applicable form, open the tab with the filter.
  2. On the table toolbar, click Filter Settings ().
  3. In the Filter Settings dialog box, which the system has opened, if you want to use a clause in the filter, select the Active check box that precedes the clause. Repeat this step for all clauses you want to make active.
  4. If you want to exclude a clause from the filter, clear the Active check box that precedes the clause. Repeat this step for all clauses you want to make inactive.
  5. If you want to save the state of the clauses, click Save. (If you have made other changes in the filter settings, they also will be saved.)
  6. Click Apply to apply the filter and close the dialog box.
