Setup


Learn about the setup required before you can begin entering transactions for dimension-controlled items.

  1. Enable Module and Functions
    • Select the Dimension Tracking sub-module in UT Company Maintenance > Modules in Use.
    • Select the Use dimension tracking option in IN Module Control, and other related options as applicable.
  2. Definition of Dimensions
  3. Dimension types and specific dimensions are defined at a system-wide level. You can set up multiple dimension types to accommodate a business requirement where different dimension types may apply to different groups of items. For example, one group of items may be controlled by colour, while another group of items may be controlled by size.

  4. Item Dimension Assignment

    Once dimensions have been defined, you can assign them to items. You must select the Track dimensions option for the item in IN Inventory Item Maintenance. This option is selected for all new items if the Inventory Module Control option Default tracking to new items is also selected. Once the option is selected and the item details are saved, the Dimensions button is enabled on the IN Inventory Item Maintenance form. Click the button to open the Assign Item Dimensions form.

  5. Assign Item Dimensions

    A separate process enables you to bulk assign dimensions if the same set of dimensions are assigned to multiple items that call within a common category. You can assign dimensions in bulk based on an item analysis code range.

  6. Bulk Assign Dimensions

    Once dimensions have been assigned to an item, you can use these forms to enter transactions for dimension-controlled items:

    • Inventory Transaction Entry
    • Sales Order Entry
    • POS Entry
    • Packing Slip Maintenance
    • PO Order Entry
    • PO Receipt Entry
    • PO Shipment Entry
    • AP Invoice Entry
    • AP Credit Note Entry
    • AR Invoice Entry
    • AR Credit Note Entry
