To Create an Asset Class by Copying an Existing Class
You can define a new asset class from scratch, as described in Fixed Assets: To Create Fixed Asset Classes. The Fixed Asset Classes (FA201000) form also gives you the ability to copy the configuration of an existing class to use it as the base for the new class.
To Create an Asset Class by Copying an Existing Class
- Open the Fixed Asset Classes (FA201000) form.
- In the Asset Class ID box, select the asset class whose key settings will be copied to the new class.
- On the form toolbar, select Clipboard, and then click Copy.
- On the form toolbar, click Add New Record.
- In the Asset Class ID box, type the unique identifier to be used for the asset class.
- On the form toolbar, select Clipboard, and then click
Paste.
The settings of the class you copied are pasted to the new class.
- Review the settings of the new class, and make any required changes.
- On the form toolbar, click Save.
Note: You can later delete an asset class only if no assets have been
associated with it.
