Receiving

These transactions result in an increase in inventory:

  • Positive IN Adjustment.
  • IN Transfer In.
  • IN JC Return from Job.
  • IN Kitset Parent Make to Stock (parent item).
  • PO Receipt (generated from PO, Shipment, or AP Invoice).
  • AP Invoice (generated from PO, Shipment, or Receipt).
  • AP Invoice (created within AP Invoice Entry).
  • AR Credit Note.
  • FO Factory Order Receipt Entry (parent item).

If your bin management system is set up to support your warehouse processes, transaction entry does not change. Bin allocation logic applies to the transaction line when you enter a quantity. Users cannot view or edit system-allocated bins before saving the transaction.

Example: IN + Adjustment

When you enter a line quantity for an item at a bin-managed location, click the Bins button on the transaction entry form. With receiving transactions, Greentree Desktop has referenced bin information specific to the item, and uses that with the location's storage profile receiving hierarchy to determine into which bins the item quantity should be received.

Click the Bins button to view or edit allocations. The Mixed column indicates whether the bin is mixed or not. If the bin is not mixed, then only one item can reside in it at one time.

You can edit quantities in the Quantity column. You can add new bin locations and quantities to the table and/or delete existing ones by pressing Shift-F2 while on a line in the table.

Note: If you change data in the bin selection table, ensure that the line quantity and the sum of bin allocated quantities are the same. You can't save changes unless Greentree Desktop validates a quantity match.

Suspense

If you selected the User Preference option Enable bin suspense on receipting, click the Suspense button to allocate any shortfall in quantity between the Required quantity and the Entered quantity to a suspense bin.

Greentree Desktop assigns quantities to bin suspense if it cannot find bins to receive the full line quantity into. If Greentree Desktop cannot find a valid bin with any spare capacity, any shortfall in quantity is allocated to bin suspense.

Note: If the bin suspense feature is not in use, you can't save the transaction if Greentree Desktop cannot find a bins to receive the full line quantity into.

Auto-allocate

This button is enabled if you have deleted automatically-allocated lines in the bin selection table. Click it to recall the original allocations to the table.

Click OK or Cancel to close the bin selection form and return to the transaction entry form.

Serial/Lot

If the item being received is serial/lot controlled, serial/lot data also displays in the bin selection table.

Bin Movement Report

When you have entered your transaction, or batch of transactions, you can hotprint a WBM Movement Report to output details of the bin locations allocated to transactions. Click the Printer icon on the toolbar and select one of these options:

  • Print Bins by Batch - Print the report for all transactions in the current batch,
  • Print Transaction Bins Only - Print the report only for the transaction you are positioned to in the batch.

The report hotprints to the printer specified as the IN Transfer printer on the User Preferences form.
