Serial/Lot Items

When a bin-managed item is serial or lot controlled, the picking logic changes for items that are serial/lot controlled. Greentree Desktop assigns serial/lot numbers to the transaction line quantity before applying bin allocation logic.

Example 1 - Receiving

For a receipt transaction, the serial/lot entry form displays when you enter the line quantity. When you click OK after entering serial/lot detail, the Bins button is enabled on the transaction entry form. Click the Bins button to view the allocations.

For serial/lot items, an additional column for serial/lot detail displays in the table. Click Serial/Lot number on the Bin Selection form to view or make changes to the serial/lot numbers.

When you click OK, the changes update to the bin allocations. You can also edit serial/lot detail on the Bin Selection form. As long as the quantity required equals the quantity entered, the serial/lot detail updates to the Serial/Lot Entry form.

Serial/Lot Suspense

This option is enabled for receipt transactions, and only if the Inventory Module Control option Use serial/lot suspense account is selected.

If you put the serial/lot item into Suspense, the bin logic puts the serial/lot suspense quantity into a suspense bin.

The Bin Movement Report outputs serial/lot details if the Incl S/L option is selected for the report on the Inventory Module Control form.

Example 2 - Picking

For a picking transaction, Greentree Desktop allocates serial/lot numbers when bins are allocated to pick from. For example, if a transaction with a decreasing effect on inventory is entered with a quantity of 3, the serial/lot numbers allocate automatically as part of the bin allocation logic.

Exception

For a picking transaction that originates from the SO Order Entry form, you must specify the serial/lot numbers when entering the sales order if the SO Module Control option Serial/lot numbers required at SO Entry is selected. When the packing slip is generated, the bin assignment logic works around the pre-allocated serial/lot numbers. Bins are allocated to pick from as a consequence of the serial/lot numbers selected.

The Bin Picking Report outputs serial/lot details if the Incl S/L option is selected for the report on the Inventory Module Control form.
