SO Entry

Greentree calculates the estimated weight of an item when the line quantity is entered if:

The Use in purchasing option is selected on the Inventory Module Control form.
The unit of measure associated with an inventory line item is a weight.
The Weight option is selected on the Unit of Measure Maintenance form.

For example, when a line quantity of 3 is entered, the Est Weight field (in the Data section of the Line Item form) updates to 4.5, which is equal to 3 x 1.5. An Est Weight column in added to the table, displaying the same information.

Note: If the unit of measure applied to line is not the item's stocking unit of measure, and a conversion factor is set up, the unit conversion is applied to convert the line quantity into the item's stocking unit of measure first, and then the estimated weight is calculated.

Since the calculation of total weight for the item (based on the line quantity) is only an estimate, you can update this value with actual weights for each item. Actual weights for sales order line items are entered on the SO Packing Slip Maintenance form.
