Setup
Learn about the setup required before you can begin entering transactions for dimension-controlled items.
- Enable Module and Functions
- Select the Dimension Tracking sub-module on the Modules in Use tab on the Company Maintenance form.
- Select the Use dimension tracking option on the Inventory Module Control form, and other related options.

Once dimensions have been defined, you can assign them to items. Select the Track dimensions option for the item on the Inventory Item Maintenance form. This option is selected for all new items if the Inventory Module Control option Default tracking to new items is also selected. Once the option is selected and the item details are saved, the Dimensions button is enabled on the Inventory Item Maintenance form. Click the button to open the Assign Item Dimensions form.

You can also bulk assign dimensions if the same set of dimensions are assigned to multiple items that call within a common category. You can assign dimensions in bulk based on an item analysis code range.

Once dimensions have been assigned to an item, you can use these forms to enter transactions for dimension-controlled items:

- Sales Order Entry
- POS Entry
- Packing Slip Maintenance

Dimension types and specific dimensions are defined at a system-wide level. You can set up multiple dimension types to accommodate a business requirement if different dimension types may apply to different groups of items. For example, one group of items may be controlled by colour, while another group of items may be controlled by size.
