Forecast Assets
Use this form to enter forecast information at an asset level, enabling you to process depreciation simulations in conjunction with the Forecast Depreciation table and the Depreciation Forecast process. For example, you can know that you are going to purchase a high value asset in the near future, and you want to run a forecast to understand the impact of this in terms of the depreciation expense.
Existing assets and values can be copied to this form using the Live to Forecast process, or erased from the form using the Erase Forecast process. The asset detail can be refreshed, edited, or erased to provide input to the forecast process.
You can also add assets that do not exist as current live assets in FA Asset Maintenance.
Options Reference
Each option and field on the form is described below. Mandatory options and fields are highlighted in red.
Code/Subcode/Description
Select an existing asset by code, subcode or description, or enter a new (proposed future) asset the same way you would enter an asset using the Asset Maintenance form.
Profit Centre/Analysis Group/Location
If an existing asset is selected, these defaults to the existing asset's settings, but they may be changed if required to reflect forecast parameters. For a new (proposed future) asset, select these parameters the same way you would if you were setting up an asset using the Asset Maintenance form.
The analysis
group assigned to the asset determines the depreciation method/parameters
used when the forecast is processed for the asset.
Current Tax/Acc Book Value
If an existing asset is selected, these defaults to the tax/accounting current book values of the asset. You can edit them to reflect forecasted values. For a new asset, enter the values to reflect the forecast.
Movements
Enter the value of purchases, disposals, revaluations, and write-offs in relation to the asset in this section. These are taken into account when the depreciation forecast is calculated using the Depreciation Forecast process.
