IN Line
Options Reference
Each option and field on the form is described below. Mandatory options and fields are highlighted in red.
Generic Line Details
Line #
This field displays the line number of the line you are entering, viewing, or editing.
Go
If a packing slip has a large number of lines, enter a line number in this field and click Go to move to the line.
Re-number
Use this option to renumber a packing slip line. Click on the line you want to renumber, and enter the number to change it to in the Line # field. Then, click Re-number.
The line moves in the table when it is renumbered. All other lines renumber using the change.
Line Type
This field displays the line type of the line you are positioned on. If you are entering a new line, select the line type here.
Tax Type
This field displays the tax type of the order.
This field is read only.
Tax Code
The default value is the tax code of the sales order line.
Status
This field displays the status of the packing slip line in read-only format. See for details about how the status of a line is determined.
If you click the ? button, you can also view the order line status.
Inventory Item and Line Details
You can only add lines to a packing slip if the Sales Order Module Control option Allow additional order lines on packing slip is selected.
If this option is not selected, you can only edit lines that have been generated from the sales order.
When you click a packing slip line, line detail defaults from the Sales Order Entry form. You can view or edit line detail using the scope determined by the settings on the SO Module Control and SO User Preference forms.
These fields also display in the Packing Slip Maintenance form:
Sales order(s)
This field displays the sales order of the packing slip line. If there is more than one sales order of the packing slip — for example, if the SO Module Control option Combine orders on packing slips is selected — you can view all orders from a dropdown list.
Qty Ordered
This field displays the original quantity ordered for the selected line in read-only format.
Estimated <Dimension>
This field is visible only if the Inventory Module Control option Use variable weights is selected.
Actual <Dimension>
This field is visible only if the Inventory Module Control option Use variable weights is selected.
These scenarios apply:
Qty Supplied > Qty Ordered
You can increase the line quantity so that it is greater than the original line quantity, however, any increase is subject to the same checks that occur when entering sales orders. Greentree Desktop will perform a check to determine whether there is sufficient inventory to meet the adjusted quantity.
If there is sufficient inventory to meet the requirement, and the SO Control option Update order with oversupplied quantity is selected, the adjusted quantity updates back to the original sales order line.
Note: Specific rules apply to the over-supply of lines for items that are serial/lot and/or dimension controlled.
Qty Supplied < Qty Ordered
You can decrease the line quantity so that it is less than the original line quantity. In this scenario, Greentree Desktop references SO Module Control to see which action is assigned for handling short-supplied items, and the selected action will occur.
Qty Cancelled or Line Deleted
All or part of a packing slip line can be cancelled. This can be done by clicking on the line to cancel, and clicking the Cancel Line button on the Line Item tab. You can also right click from the line in the table (position to the Type field) and select Cancel Line.
Select a reason code for the cancellation, and the quantity to cancel, which can be all or part of the full line quantity. Then select a Sales order action, which determines how the cancelled quantity is treated:
- Cancel - If you select this option, the order line Cancelled quantity will increase by the quantity cancelled here, and the packing slip line quantity supplied reduces by the same quantity. When the packing slip line has invoiced, there is no outstanding quantity with the line.
- Backorder - If you select this option, the order line Qty BO will increase by the quantity cancelled here, and the packing slip line quantity supplied reduces the same quantity. A second packing slip may be generated for the quantity at a future time, when the inventory is available.
- Re-instate - If you select this option, the order line Quantity ordered remains unaffected by the cancellation. The packing slip line quantity supplied reduces by the quantity cancelled. This indicates that only part of the order line is being supplied, but the balance is expected to be supplied at a future time, and a second packing slip is generated.
Click the Save icon to save the cancellation or exit the form without saving changes.
There are two other scenarios that require user intervention when selecting a system action:
- Where the line quantity supplied is reduced to a quantity less than the original order quantity, and the SO Module Control Short supplied items action is Prompt for Action.
- If a packing slip, or packing slip line is deleted and the SO Module Control option Delete packing slip/lines is set to Always prompt for action.
In these situations, you can select Re-instate, Backorder or Cancel from a pop-up form.
Note: To delete
a packing slip line, press Shift-F2 or click Delete while on the line.
You can only do this if the line has a status which allows such an edit.
See Delete packing slip/lines options in SO Control for information about
how Greentree Desktop
handles deleted packing slips/lines.
You can't cancel orders or lines if the SO Preference option Allow cancelling of order/lines is not selected.
