Import Duty Group Maintenance
Use duty groups to combine the suppliers who have the same duty rules applied to them. Your duty groups can relate to a specific country or to a group of countries that are subject to the same rules.
Enter a code and description to represent the country, or group to which the same duty rules apply.
Duty groups are assigned to countries, which are subsequently assigned to suppliers, so each supplier is ultimately for a duty group by way of the country it belongs to. When duty is calculated on the Shipment Entry form, Greentree Desktop references the duty supplier's country to determine which duty group to apply to a shipment.
Duty groups are assigned to duty codes in the Duty Code Maintenance form, and you can define rules for multiple duty groups within each duty code. Do this if an item can be imported from more than country, if different duty rules apply.
Each imported inventory item has a duty code for it. When Greentree Desktop calculates duty for an item, it looks at both the item duty code and the import supplier's duty group, and checks the Duty Code Maintenance form to find the rules of the duty code and group combination.
