Kitset

Use this form to make enquiries about the availability, cost, and price for kitset component items. To know how much inventory of a kitset parent you need at any point in time, using the availability of components, you can enquire before proceeding to the Kitset Parent Make-to-Stock form to make inventory, or before entering a sale transaction for a kitset parent item.

You can also use this enquiry to determine what the total cost and selling price for a kitset parent are, based on a required quantity.

Note: The criteria that determines how the cost and selling price for a kitset parent is calculated is specified on the Kitset Maintenance form.

Options Reference

Each option and field on the form is described below. Mandatory options and fields are highlighted in red.

Parent Item/Description

Enter or select the kitset parent item for which you are making the enquiry. You can search for the item using either its code or description.

Unit of Measure

The default value is the stocking unit of measure for the selected item.

This field is read only.

Price book

Enter the price book that is for the enquiry in terms of calculating the selling price.

Quantity to Assemble

Enter the quantity that is for the enquiry. For example, if you want to determine what the component availability is to make 10 units of the parent item, enter 10 here. If to determine what the unit selling price is for the parent item, enter 1 here.

Location View Options

If locations are in use, you can select to view component availability by individual location, warehouse, or in all locations. Make your selection before clicking the Apply button.

Apply

Click this button to apply the enquiry criteria and return component detail to the table.

Component Details Table

When you click the Apply button, the kitset component lines defaults to this table so that you can see availability by location, using the Quantity to Assemble. You can see at a glance whether there is sufficient inventory of the component items to make the quantity to assemble.

If you are also using the enquiry to determine what the cost and selling price for the parent item is, you must click the Select box beside the component lines for the enquiry. For example, if you are using multiple locations and one component is in more than one location, the cost and/or price of the parent may be different depending on which location you plan to issue the component from.

Get Cost and Price

Click this button to return the total cost and selling price for the kitset parent, using the criteria that is entered or selected in the enquiry. Details displays in the Total cost and Total Selling Price fields at the base of the enquiry form.

Cancel

Click this button to exit from the enquiry form.

Substitutes

This button is enabled if you are positioned on a component line in the table, and the component item has a substitute defined for it. When you click the button, you can view all substitutes for the item, and availability by location.

You can select one of the substitute lines to use instead of the original component, and click OK to return to the enquiry table. Greentree Desktop updates the table by substituting the original component with the selected substitute. The cost and price calculations references the substitute component item details and not the original component details.
