Receiving Logic

This hierarchy applies to bin allocation receiving logic:

  1. If a Bin Receiving Area is setup, all bin-managed items are received into the nominated receiving bin for the warehouse.
  2. Receive into the specific bins assigned as receipting bins in IN Item Bin Maintenance, in the exact order in which they appear in the table.
  3. Receive into any partially filled (non-mixed) bin of the primary bin type of the stocking location's storage profile the bin type that is positioned at the top of the storage profile's receipting hierarchy table. The collection of bins within the bin type are referenced in bin location order, or in the reverse of bin location order, where the reverse option is selected for the bin type in the storage profile receipting hierarchy.
  4. Receive into the closest empty bin of the primary type. The logic for determining the distance of the next closest bin uses the number of segments to use for searching receiving bins specified on the Location Print Order form. The greater the number of segments, the more precise the calculation for establishing the next closest bin. In most cases, this will be set to the full number of location segments.
  5. Receive into the first mixed bin of the primary type.
  6. Receive into the next closest mixed bin of the primary type, using the logic outlined in step 3.
  7. Repeat steps 2 to 6 for the storage profile's secondary bin type, third bin type, and so on.
  8. If the UT Preference option Enable bin suspense on receipting is selected, Greentree receives any outstanding quantity into bin suspense when it cannot find any other bin to receive the inventory into. If Enable bin suspense on receipting is not selected, you can't complete the transaction of Greentree cannot find enough bins to receive the full quantity.
