Picking
These transactions all result in an decrease in inventory:
- Negative IN Adjustment;
- IN Transfer Out;
- IN JC Issue Job;
- IN Kitset Parent Make to Stock (issued components);
- Packing Slip Generation;
- AR Invoice (created from SO Entry);
- AR Invoice;
- AP Credit Note;
- FO Factory Order Entry or FO Order Receipt Entry (issued components).
If your bin management system is set up to support your warehouse processes, transaction entry of users doesn't change. Behind the scenes, bin allocation logic applies to the transaction line when a quantity is entered or when a packing slip is generated.
For example, a transaction that decreases the effect inventory displays the same way in IN Transaction Entry. The bin selection form displays bin allocations and quantities for the location from which to pick the inventory from, not where to receive it into.
You can generate a packing slip:
- Directly using the sales order;
- Using the SO Generate Packing Slips process;
- Using the SO Backorder Release process.
Example: SO Entry/PS Maintenance
Greentree applies bin allocation logic when you generate a packing slip from a sales order. You can only view the bin allocations using the SO Packing Slip Maintenance form. The Bins button is enabled on the Line Item form when you select a bin-managed location line.
You can also
right-click the line and select Bins
from the menu.
Click Bins to view the allocations. Quantities in the bin display on the form. You can edit the auto-allocated quantities in the Quantity column. You can't enter a quantity to pick that exceeds the quantity available in the bin.
If you do make
any changes to data in the bin selection table, you must ensure that the
quantity Required (line quantity)
and the quantity Entered (sum
of bin allocated quantities) are the same. You can't save changes unless
Greentree validates a quantity match.
Suspense
If the UT User Preference option Enable bin suspense on picking is selected, click the Suspense button to allocate any shortfall in quantity between the required quantity and the entered quantity to be picked from the bin suspense location.
If the Enable bin suspense on picking option is selected, Greentree assigns quantities to pick from bin suspense if it cannot find a bins to fully pick the order from. This can only occur if the stocking location has enough inventory to satisfy the order, but the bins within that location do not where the sum of bin quantities does not reflect the stocking location quantity on hand.
Auto-allocate
This feature is not enabled for picking transactions.
Click OK or Cancel to close the bin selection form and return to the transaction entry form.
Serial/Lot
If the item being picked is serial/lot controlled, serial/lot data also displays in a column within the bin selection table.
Bin Picking Report
You can hotprint a WBM Picking Report by clicking the Printer icon on the toolbar of the Packing Slip Maintenance form.
