Creating Serviceable Units

You can create a Serviceable Unit on the Job Management screen. You can create Serviceable Units independently of a job and then use them in a job at a later time — for example, selling a car and anticipating it being brought in for servicing.

When the Serviceable Units feature is installed, the Serviceable Units sub-tab displays at the bottom of the Details tab on the Job Management screen. Use it to pre-load a list of units to reference on the job. You can create new units or select them from a list of units.

To create a serviceable unit, right click on the Serviceable Units sub-tab and select Create New Serviceable Unit. The Serviceable Units window displays:

Serial # only applies if the stock item is serialised.

You can choose both the Customer and Service Agent from a search window that contains both Debtors and Creditors.

Bill code refers to a Bill of Materials code (optional).

The New Job button is enabled on this tab to create a new job from the Serviceable Units window.

If the Allow creation of new Make, Model and Class User-level profile setting is enabled, you can click a button to create Makes, Models, and Classes.

Warranties

You can add warranties by right clicking in the warranties grid and selecting Insert Warranty.

Parent Child Units

You can organise Serviceable Units into parent-child relationships. The relationships can have more than one level.

To make a unit a child of another unit, specify the parent unit in the Parent Unit field.

You can view the parent child relationship tree by clicking the toolbar icon.

The current unit is highlighted in the tree. You can drill down on another unit to open it in a new Serviceable Units screen.
