Automation Definitions

You can use this form to define the automation steps to be executed for specific records (or objects generated by the form) on MYOB Advanced screens or forms, depending on the record (or object) properties.

You can extend the functionality of various actions. For example, you can create a Save menu with actions that are a variation of the save operation for records with different statuses. Also, you can give certain elements default values depending on the record properties. You can extend the list of object statuses with only certain statuses to be displayed when an object is in a specific status.

The form is available if the Workflow Automation feature is enabled on the Enable/Disable Features (CS100000) form.

Form Toolbar

The form toolbar includes standard and form-specific buttons and commands. For the list of standard buttons, see Form Toolbar and More Menu. The form-specific commands are listed in the following table.

Button Description
Preload Details Adds to the table all automation steps that are present in the system. The added automation steps are split by screen with which they are associated.
CAUTION: This operation rewrites all data in the selected definition.
Copy Details Opens the Specify Source Definition dialog box, which you can use to copy the details of an existing definition into the selected definition.
CAUTION: This operation rewrites all data in the selected definition.
Populate Definitions Populates the selected definition with all automation steps in the table and generates XML code for the selected definition.
CAUTION: This operation rewrites all data in the selected definition.
Activate Definition Copies the details from the selected definition into the corresponding automation steps.
CAUTION: This operation rewrites all data in the selected automation steps.

Automation Definition Area

You use this area to select an existing automation definition or create a new one. Additionally, you can view the XML code of the selected definition.

Element Description
Definition ID The unique ID of the definition. Select an ID to open an existing definition or type a name to create a new definition.
Description A detailed description of the automation definition.
Show Populated (button) A button you click to view the XML code of the selected definition.

Table

The table displays the forms included in the selected automation definition.

View Screen Opens the form you selected in the table.

Screen ID The form whose automation steps are included in the selected definition.
Steps The automation steps of the form (shown in the Screen ID column) that are included in the definition.
