Transactions with Approvals: Implementation Checklist

The following sections provide details you can use to ensure that the system is configured properly for processing GL transactions with approvals, and to understand (and change, if needed) the settings that affect the processing workflow.

Implementation Checklist

We recommend that before you initially process GL transactions for which approvals are configured, you make sure the needed features have been enabled, settings have been specified, and entities have been created, as summarized in the following checklist.

Form Criteria to Check
Enable/Disable Features (CS100000) The Approval Workflow feature has been enabled.
Approval Maps (EP205015) Each necessary approval map for batches of GL transactions has been created and all appropriate approvers have been assigned to it, as demonstrated in the example of Transactions with Approval: Implementation Activity.
Email Templates (SM204003) The predefined Journal Transaction Approval email template has been reviewed and updated, if necessary. For each type of GL transaction, a specific email template based on the predefined one has been created.
General Ledger Preferences (GL102000) In a row of the Approval tab, the appropriate approval map has been specified in the Approval Map column for each needed type of batches of GL transactions selected in the Type column. An email template has been specified for each approval map in the Pending Approval Notification column. Each approval map specified on this tab is active (that is, the Active check box is selected for it).

Validation of Configuration

To perform the configuration to process GL transactions with approvals, you need to perform instructions similar to those described in Transactions with Approval: Implementation Activity.

To make sure that all configuration has been performed correctly, we recommend that in your system, you process GL transactions with approvals by performing instructions similar to those described in Transactions with Approval: Process Activity.
