Task Queues

Use this form to set up task queues for a range of task types.

Note: You should access this form from the computer you are defining the task processor for.

Task Queue name

Enter the name for this task queue — for example, Server task processor.

Workstation name

This is the name of the workstation that the processor is defined for.

Note: When setting up a processor you can select a workstation name already defined in the list or save the current workstation name from your computer.

If Database Server is selected, you can move Greentree Desktop to other servers without changing or setting up the task queue again.

Delete jobs from this queue when they have finished

Select this option if you want tasks to be deleted from the task queue when the have completed processing. Select this option to keep the queues clear of jobs that have already processed.

This queue is active

Select this option if you want the option to start this queue.

Include this workstation's printer's for hotprinting

Select this option if printers attached to this workstation can be used for hotprinting

Workers

This is the maximum number of tasks that this task processor can process at one time. There is a trade off between the number of processors and how fast any one task completes.

With the exception of a Fax job, the recommended setting for the maximum number of works is 10.

A fax job can only have a maximum of 1 — you can only send only one fax at a time.

Create log file

If you select this option, a log file of tasks processed is created, and output to the specified directory.

Logging file

Enter the path and/or name of the log file. If only a file name is entered here, the log file is saved to the directory specified as the LogDirectory in the [JadeLog] section of the server's .ini file. If no LogDirectory is specified, the file is saved to the existing logs directory.

The task manager processes all write to the one Log file. This provides a better view of the time lines of the various queue processors as opposed to having them in separate files which then need consolidating.

If the name is changed for one queue, it change for all queues.

You can enable or disable logging for particular queues.

Note: You can enable the Verbose logging option on the General System Preferences form. Verbose logging is disabled by default.

Restrict queue to one task type

Select this if the task queue name can only have one task type assigned to it.

Task Types

Select the task types this task queue name will process.

Email Connection response time

This is the length of time the email processor will wait before attempting to connect to your mail server if the first attempt fails. The default response time is 5000 milliseconds (five seconds). You can adjust this time according to the speed of the servers involved.

If a timeout connection error messages regularly display when sending emails using eReporting, increase this setting until you find the optimum time.
