Forecast Maintenance


Use this form to edit forecast values that the Forecast Generation process creates, and to add new items and values to a specific forecast file. You can also use this form to review, edit, and update generated forecasts by creating a unique forecast maintenance reference.

If the Forecast Generation option All warehouses is selected, Greentree Desktop maintains the forecast at the item level. Otherwise, Greentree Desktop maintains the forecast at the warehouse location level and the Location column displays in the table.

Options Reference

Each option and field on the form is described below. Mandatory options and fields are highlighted in red.

Reference

Enter or select a unique reference for the maintenance action, up to 20 characters.

Forecast File Name

Select the forecast file to maintain.

Analysis Code Range

Enter a range of analysis codes for the inventory items for which you want to maintain forecasts.

Inventory Code Range

Enter a range of inventory codes for the inventory items for which you want to maintain forecasts.

Save Details

This button is enabled when you have changed forecast details in the table. Click this button to save the details.

New Criteria

Click this button to clear the form so you can enter or select a new forecast maintenance reference.

Save Criteria

Click this button to save your selection criteria.

Delete Criteria

Click this button to delete the selected forecast maintenance reference.

Search Now

After entering search criteria, click this button to search for the forecast details and display them in the table.

Report

Click this button to print the Forecast Listing report. The report criteria is based on your selection criteria.

Copy Criteria

Click this button to copy the current selection criteria to a new reference. When you click this button, the reference field clears and you can enter a new reference.

Date Generated

This field displays the date on which the selected forecast file was generated.

This field is read only.

Calculation Method

The displays the method that was used to generate the selected forecast file.

This field is read only.

Table Details

When you click Search Now, one line displays for each inventory item of the search criteria. This includes the item code, description, last forecast period-end date, and the total forecast quantity. You can expand and collapse the line for an item to display additional details.

If you expand a line, the forecast quantity displays for each period of the generated forecast.

You can:

  • Update period forecast quantities in the table. When you click Save Details, the changes made save with the forecast file. These the values are used when the forecast is input to the MRP generation process.
  • Delete existing period lines, reducing the total forecast quantity for the inventory item.
  • Add new inventory codes and forecast values to the forecast by inserting them into the table.

Code

Enter or select the inventory code for which to add a forecast quantity.

End Date

Enter the end date of the new period for which to add a forecast quantity. The date you enter must be a valid period end date, based on the forecast calendar used to generate this forecast.

If you enter a date for which there is already a forecast quantity, an error message displays and you must enter the existing value. You can enter forecast values for periods beyond the last one that was generated in the selected forecast file.

Quantity

Enter the new forecast quantity, which must be greater than or equal to zero. This updates the total forecast quantity for the item. When details are saved, quantities are rounded up to the number of decimal places associated with each inventory item's decimal unit.
