Management Reports

Use management reports to print a range of reports using selection and filter criteria. If the JC Module Control option Management Report from current period is selected, the From period defaults to the current job cost period, otherwise it defaults to the first period in the job cost calendar. You can change the default period ranges, depending on the transactions to include in your report.

Enter filters to determine the report output. For example, you can select a profit centre and charge type combination, or a sub-set of specific jobs. To select more than one of the same filter type, select the first one, and it is copied to the field to the right of the Search field. As you select additional ones, they append to the string on the right side, which indicates they are included in the output criteria.

Note: You can use wildcards and ranges to select more than one invoice, or a range of invoices. For example, if you enter 34* into the job field on the right side, you selects all jobs that have a prefix of 34. If you enter 3400:4000, you selects all jobs between and including these references.

As well as specific job filters, you can filter the output using calendar periods, and job flags and dates. You can select additional options to print a New Page for Each Job, or Print or IncludeSub Jobs.

If you select:

  • Print subjobs, all sub jobs relating to the parent or project job included in the report range prints on the report.
  • Include subjobs in job ranges, only sub jobs that fall in the job selection criteria (for example, in the job number range) print on the report. For example, if parent jobs 5004 and 5005 have subjobs 5004.01 and 5005.01, this applies:
  • Include subjobs in job ranges but Print subjobs is not selected, then a job range of 5004-5005 outputs jobs 5004, 5004.01, and 5005 to the report. In this example, subjob 5005.01 does not print because it does not fall in the job range it has a job number greater than 5005). If Print subjobs was also selected, then job 5005.01 would print on the report because it is a subjob of 5005, which falls within in the job selection range.

Select the report to print in the Select Report field. You can select from any Management report that has been assigned on the Report Format Maintenance form. You should spend time reviewing the job cost reports that are available for selection here, and determine which ones apply to your business.

Printing by Trees

These reports are enabled for job tree and branch selections:

  • JC Job Summary Report
  • JC Job Summary Report - Est
  • Job WIP Summary.

Tree

When one of the above reports is selected, you can select from a list of job trees for the current company. When you select a tree, its branches are shown in the Select Branches panel on the right, with each branch selected.

Select Branches

When first displayed, all branches and all sub-branches of the tree are shown and selected. Branches that have sub-branches are indicated with a -. Click - to close the branch. Click + to show its sub-branches.

Click the checkbox beside each branch to select or deselect the ones. This prints reports for jobs grouped by those branches, showing subtotals by branch.

When selecting to print by tree, the report outputs the jobs that belong to the selected branches and that comply with the job selection criteria.

Click Print Report to print the selected report using your search criteria.

Note: Regardless of the filters selected to determine output, the reports will always print using the Job as the primary sort. Any MTD value displayed on reports represents Months to Date and uses the From/To period selections, not the current month.

Saved Selections

Use this feature to save your report selection so that it can be recalled in the future to run again. This is useful if you periodically run the report using the same criteria. To save report criteria, enter a name into the Saved selections field and click Save.

To recall a saved selection in the future, select it from the Saved selections list and click the Load button. You can also delete a saved selection by selecting it from the list and clicking the Delete button.
