Bin Replenishment and Put Away

Use this form to generate transfers to replenish bin picking locations. You can also use the form to move inventory from a nominated receiving location into picking locations, if a Bin Receiving area is set up.

Greentree uses the Replenishment method logic that is on the Inventory Module Control form. Replenishment and put away calculations use the minimum and maximum replenishment quantities assigned to the item on the Inventory Item Bin Maintenance form.

Options Reference

Each option and field on the form is described below. Mandatory options and fields are highlighted in red.

Reference

Enter a reference, up to 100 characters, to represent the process. You can use the reference to recall a replenishment or put away that's in progress up until the bins are updated.

Search criteria

You can use inventory code, analysis code, and location ranges to search for items to include in the process. You can also select by inventory tree.

Replenishment/Put away

Select the:

  • Replenishment option to run the process to transfer inventory from receiving bins into picking bins.
  • Put away option to run the process to transfer inventory from a nominated bulk receiving bin into picking bins.
  • Replenishment & Put away option to run the two process simultaneously. When you select this option, the options for replenishment are enabled.

Note: If you select Put away as the process option, and there is insufficient bin capacity to move all the inventory from the receiving area into picking bins, items remain in the receiving area until capacity is available. They do not display in the table as transfers.

Combined process sequences

The combined process:

  • Sequence 1 - Replenishes from the bulk bins to pick bins.
  • Sequence 1 - Replenishes from receiving area to pick bins (filling to the capacity left in the pick bins after the first step).
  • Sequence 2 - Puts away from receiving area to bulk bins.

If inventory is moved out of sequence, there may be insufficient bin capacity. For example, if put away to bulk is done before the inventory is replenished to the pick bins to assist with managing this the sequence number reflects the process logic.

Maximum Replenishment quantity

If the Max Repln Qty option is not selected, the replenishment process fills each bin in the pick face to the maximum capacity.

Use this to manage the quantity of items to replenish to the picking area. For example, an item might be replenished to a maximum of four items in picking bins, if 5 is 100% of the bin capacity. If the bin is a mixed bin, this leaves capacity for another item to be replenished to the same bin.

Only replenish bins that are below minimum quantity

This option is enabled if Replenishment is selected as the process option. If you select this option, the process only suggests replenishing bins that have fallen below their minimum quantity.

Exclude bins under investigation

For sites using Mobility and with the option to Exclude bins under investigation from picking selected on the Packing Slip tab on the Sales Orders Module Control form, the Exclude bins under investigation option is enabled. Select this option to exclude bins flagged through the mobile process for investigation from the replenishment and put away process.

You can view bins with this option selected on a mobile device by selecting Bins For Investigation from the Data entry menu.

Include cross docking area

When you select the Put Away process, the Include cross docking area is enabled. Select this option to include inventory in the cross docking area with inventory in the receiving area. Greentree Desktop suggests bins for the total inventory.

Generate packing slip

If security settings don't allow the user to run the Generate Packing Slips process, this option is deselected and is not enabled.

Click Search now to apply the search criteria and return suggested replenishment put away transfers to the table.

Note: To change the system calculated quantity for a line, change the quantity, right click the line and select Copy row. This inserts a duplicate line for the balance of the suggested quantity. You can then update the To Bin location to the preferred location.

Report

Click this button to print a Bin Replenishment/Put Away report. You can filter the report output to meet your requirements.

You can select these sort profiles before running the report:

  • Inventory code.
  • Inventory description.
  • Stocking location.
  • Bin location.
  • Analysis code.

Select all/Deselect all

Click these buttons to select or deselect branches when a tree is used as part of the search criteria.

Confirm all/Unconfirm all

Click these buttons to bulk confirm or unconfirm replenishment or put away lines in the table. If you confirm a line, you intend to (or have already) followed through with the physical transfer for the line.

The replenishment/put away process will involve these steps in order:

  • View suggested replenishments or put aways based on your search criteria.
  • Print the replenishment/put away report.
  • Make the physical transfers using the report.
  • Confirm which lines were physically transferred.
  • Click Update bins. This button is only enabled after the replenishment/put away reference is saved and recalled.

Click the Update bins button to automatically create a transfer transaction for all confirmed lines on the Bin Adjustment Entry form. The reference for the bin adjustment is derived from the automatically-generated parameters set up on the Inventory Module Control form. The Adjustment Narration is automatically generated to indicate the source and (bin replenishment) reference associated with the transfer. The transfer is read-only.

Serial/Lot

For serial/lot items being replenished, the serial/lot number displays in a column in the bin replenishment/put away table.
