Change Location Levels
Use this form to change the hierarchical structure of locations that have previously been set up on the Location Maintenance form, and transfer inventory on-hand quantities, using the changes.
There are two options: Contract and Expand.
Contract
Use this option to contract locations from lower levels, up to a higher (parent) level, and transfer inventory at lower level locations to the parent location that is specified.
Options Reference
Each option and field on the form is described below. Mandatory options and fields are highlighted in red.
Change to level
Enter or select the location to which to transfer all inventory from lower levels. When you click the Process button, Greentree Desktop creates the adjustment transactions, using the positive and negative adjustment options entered on the form before processing.
Positive Adjustment Options - Reference/Trans Type/Tax Code
These options apply to the positive adjustment of inventory into the parent location. Enter a unique reference for the transaction (up to 20 characters), the transaction type, and the applicable tax code.
Negative Adjustment Options - Reference/Trans Type/Tax Code
These options apply to the negative adjustment of inventory out of the lower locations. Enter a unique reference for the transaction (up to 20 characters), the transaction type (you can select from one previously defined on the Transaction Type Maintenance form, which decreases inventory), and the tax code that is applicable.
Process
Click this button to generate the adjustment transactions. If the nominated parent location is not already a stocking location, Greentree Desktop updates the location status to make it a stocking location.
Cancel
Click this button to close the form.
Location Table
The table on the left side of the form displays all the current locations. You can expand (click +) or contract (click -) locations to view different location levels.
The colour of the location reflects it's status, based on how the location is set up on the Location Maintenance form. A colour legend displays at the base of the form.
Expand
Use this option to expand locations from a level, up to a lower level, and transfer inventory from the high level location to the lower level that is specified.
Options Reference
Each option and field on the form is described below. Mandatory options and fields are highlighted in red.
Change From Level
Enter or select the high level parent) location from which you want to transfer inventory to the lower level specified in the Change To Level. You can, for example, enter location A01 to move inventory from location A01 into one of the lower level locations — like B12, d14, or s12.
Change To Level
Enter or select the lower level location that the inventory in the Change From Level location is transferred to. This location must be a sub-branch of the Change From Level location.
Positive Adjustment Options - Reference/Trans Type/Tax Code
These options applies to the positive adjustment of inventory into the Change To Level location. Enter a unique reference for the transaction (up to 20 characters), the transaction type (you can select from one previously defined on the Transaction Type Maintenance form, which increases inventory), and the tax code that is applicable.
Negative Adjustment Options - Reference/Trans Type/Tax Code
These options applies to the negative adjustment of inventory out of the Change From Level location. Enter a unique reference for the transaction (up to 20 characters), the transaction type (you can select from one previously defined on the Transaction Type Maintenance form, which decreases inventory), and the applicable tax code that is applicable.
Process
Click this button to run the process. Greentree Desktop generates the adjustment transactions. If the nominated lower level location is not already a stocking location, Greentree Desktop updates the location status to make it a stocking location.
Cancel
Click this button to close the form.
Location Table

Note: You cannot
change a location level if there are any outstanding purchase orders,
shipments, or receipts of the from
location.
Exception - If all line quantities
on an open shipment are zero, this restriction does not apply.
