Forecast Assets
Use this form to enter forecast information at an asset level, enabling you to process depreciation simulations in conjunction with the Forecast Depreciation table and the Depreciation Forecast process. For example, you plan to purchase a high value asset in the near future, and you want to run a forecast to understand the impact of this on the depreciation expense.
You can copy existing assets and values to this form using the Live to Forecast process, or erase them from the form using the Erase Forecast process. You can refresh, edit, or erase asset detail to provide input to the forecast process.
You can add assets that do not exist as current live assets on the Fixed Asset Maintenance form.
Asset forecast details copied or entered on this form remains as they are until they are:
- Deleted using the Delete Forecast form.
- Copied or updated using the Live to Forecast form.
- Edited on this form.
Options Reference
Each option and field on the form is described below. Mandatory options and fields are highlighted in red.
Code/Subcode/Description
Select an existing asset by code, subcode, or description. You can also enter a new asset using the Asset Maintenance form.
Profit Centre/Analysis Group/Location
If an existing asset is selected, these parameters default to the existing asset's settings. You can change the parameters to reflect forecast parameters. You can also select these parameters for a new asset.
Note: The analysis group assigned to the asset determines the depreciation method or parameters used when processing the forecast for the asset.
Current Tax/Acc Book Value
If an existing asset is selected, these parameters default to the tax or accounting current book values of the asset. You can edit them to reflect forecasted values. For a new asset, enter the values to reflect the forecast.
Movements
Enter the value of purchases, disposals, revaluations, and write-offs for the asset in this section. These are taken into account when the depreciation forecast is calculated using the Depreciation Forecast form.
Tax/Acc Residual Value
Enter the tax and accounting residual values for the asset.
