Kitset Maintenance
This form is enabled if the Kitset module is in use.
You can access it from the Inventory Item Maintenance form, or from the Data Entry menu. Use the form to define kitset parent items and components. If a kitset is set up for an item, the Kitsets exist option is selected on the Main form in Inventory Item Maintenance.
Options Reference
Each option and field on the form is described below. Mandatory options and fields are highlighted in red.
Code
This is the inventory item code for the kitset parent. It defaults in read-only format if the Kitset Maintenance form is accessed from the Inventory Item Maintenance form, where an item was selected. Otherwise, enter or select the item to view or maintain kitset details.
Description
This is the inventory item description.
Issue Components to Parent - At cost
This option is taken from Module Control. If selected, when a transaction is created that issues component items (to create a parent item), the components will be issued at cost, based on the costing method that is being used by the company. The cost (and subsequently, inventory value) to make the parent item is the sum of the component costs.
Issue Components to Parent - At selling price
This option is taken from Module Control. If selected, when a transaction is created that issues component items (to create a parent item), the components will be issued based on their selling price. The cost (and subsequently, inventory value) to make the parent item is the sum of the component selling prices.
Kitset variance Account
If you have selected the option to issue component items to the parent at selling price, you will also need to specify a general ledger account here, which is the account to which the difference between the component cost price, and the component selling price will be posted when an issue transaction is created (as the component must be credited from inventory at cost).
Sell Transaction - Total of all component items
This option is taken from Module Control. The option applies when AR invoice transactions involving kitset parents are posted to the general ledger. Greentree must calculate the selling price of the parent item. If you select this option, the kitset parent unit selling price will be calculated as the sum of each component's selling price
This option
can only be selected if the Inventory
Parent option is not selected,
as the selling price of a component can only be known absolutely if a
transaction is occurring in real-time the kitset parent is being made
during transaction entry).
Sell Transaction - Per parent item
This option is taken from Module Control. The option applies when AR invoice transactions involving kitset parents are posted to the general ledger. Greentree must calculate the selling price of the parent item. If you select this option, the kitset parent unit selling price will be the selling price of the parent item, as specified in Selling Price Maintenance, or calculated using a markup or margin associated with a price book and/or analysis code combination
If the Inventory Parent option is selected,
Greentree will select the Per parent
item option, and default to read-only format. If you are stocking
the parent item, then you must
sell the kitset parent in it's own right, as the sum of component selling
prices cannot be determined if the parent item is already in stock the
inventory could have been made days, weeks or years ago).
Stocking unit
The default value is the stocking unit of measure for the kitset parent.
This field is read only.
Hold parent in inventory
Select this option if want to hold inventory of the kitset parent, and maintain associated details (costs, selling price, and the like). If you do not select this option, the kitset parent will be considered non-diminishing, which means there will never be any inventory held for the item (quantity on hand always read 9999999), and the item will be made during sales order or invoice entry by issuing components real-time.
If the kitset parent is stocked, you can use the Kitset Parent Make-to-Stock form to make inventory of the kitset parent at any time, or purchase it as you would any other stocked item.
You can also access the Kitset Parent Make-to-Stock form from the Insufficient Inventory Available form when it displays during sales order or invoice entry, so that you can make inventory of the parent at that time. If an item has kitsets assigned, this indicator displays on the Item Maintenance Main form.
Allow line additions
Select this option to enable users to add a kitset component line (not specified as a component here, when the kitset is set up), when the parent is being created. An example of where this feature may be used could be where you are offering a promotion for a period of time, and want to temporarily include an additional item in the kitset.
Line type
Kitset component lines can be of type Inventory (IN) or Non-Stock (NS). When you are adding a component line, you must select the line type that you are adding.
Code
Select the code for the component you are adding to the kitset. The codes available for selection will depend on the line type that you have selected.
Description
The default value is the description of the code selected. You can also search for an item or non-stock code by description.
