Disposals

Use this form to enter asset disposal transactions.

If batches are in use, enter batch header information before accessing this form. If batches are not in use, Greentree generates a batch number for the transactions entered.

Information When processing a disposal, Greentree validates that the asset is depreciated up to the point of disposal.

Options Reference

Each option and field on the form is described below. Mandatory options and fields are highlighted in red.

Reference

Enter a unique reference, up to 20 characters long, to represent the disposal transaction.

Date

This is the transaction document date. It defaults to today's date but you can change it.

Current Period End

This is provided for information only and does not necessarily reflect the period that this transaction is being posted to.

Asset

Select the asset being disposed of. You can enter a code or subcode using a forward slash (/) as a separator. You can also use the asset description to select the asset.

Selling Price

Enter the net price the asset is being sold for.

Percent

If you are not disposing of all the asset — for example, the asset code selected represents a group of assets - and you are only disposing of half of them, enter the disposal percentage (up to six decimal places). The Quantity Disposed and Book Value will be calculated by Greentree using this percentage.

Quantity

If the percent disposed is 100%, Greentree updates this field in read-only format and display the full quantity of the asset.

If the percent disposed is less than 100%, you can enter a quantity to represent the quantity that is being disposed of.

Asset Value - Tax and Accounting

If the percent disposed is 100%, Greentree updates these fields in read-only format and display the total tax/accounting purchase price of the asset.

If the percent disposed is less than 100%, the values uses the percentage entered. You can edit the values.

Book Value

If the percent disposed is 100%, Greentree updates these fields in read-only format, and display the total tax/accounting current book value of the asset.

If the percent disposed is less than 100%, the values uses the percentage entered. You can edit the values.

Notes

Enter details about the disposal. This is for reference only.

Narration

Enter a narration to add more detail about the disposal. The narration is for reference only.

Click the Save icon or press F2 to save and create the disposal transaction.

Information

Any current year depreciation for a disposed asset will be reversed using the disposal flag selected in FA Module Control. The rules for disposal flags are outlined in Hierarchies - Disposal Flag, and associated GL updates are outlined in Hierarchies - Disposals.

Disposal transactions can be viewed for each asset using the Asset Maintenance - Transactions form. You can view the original transaction by accessing this form and selecting the transaction reference. You can edit or delete a transaction if the period the transaction was entered in is still the current period. Otherwise, the transaction will be read-only and you cannot edit it.

You cannot enter a disposal for an asset that is previously transferred to another asset, previously disposed of, or written-off.
