Query Results

When you've defined the query conditions, click the Search Now button to run the query.

Information Columns to view and sort orders can be edited dynamically and the search process re-executed.

Loading the table

If a query results in large numbers of objects being loaded into the results table, you can increase the speed of the output process by specifying an increment by which to load the data — for example, load data in increments of 100, 500, or 1000 rows. The default number of objects to load is defined in User Preferences - Menu Security. You can also specify a particular row you want the data to display from.

Clever table functions

The results table uses many of Greentree Desktop's clever table features.

Information Table customisations are not saved using the Save Selections feature.

You can also select the option to Launch table contents in the selected format. You can access these options using the Export button on the main form.

Object Drill Down

The green arrow positioned before each piece of data indicates that the object can be drilled down to open the source transaction or masterfile. Double-click the arrow to run the drill down.

Export Feature

To export table data into Excel, click the Export button, located next to the Search Now button on the main form. Alternatively, click exportfeaturebutton or right-click the Export button to view extended export options. Greentree opens an application using the option selected and populate it with the query results. You can also save the results to a file.

Notes:

  • The Report writer option opens the Report Designer Wizard, enabling the query to be converted into a standard Greentree report.
  • Exported data uses the query criteria, columns to view, and sort criteria. If data in the table is manipulated in any way before the export — for example, hiding columns, sorting - this is not represented in the export. Table manipulation features should be considered an ad-hoc feature of Explorer.
  • When data is exported, Greentree creates a read-only file in your temp directory, regardless of whether you ultimately save the exported data or not. You may need to clear this directory periodically if this feature is in use.
