Constructing a Query

Search Focus

Use this table to select a collection class as the basis for a query. The table is pre-populated with data collections maintained against the Company (currently logged into), Module Control and System Control classes.Drop down the list to view an extension of detail.

Sub-classes display in a tree structure beneath their super class. The number of instances (records) available to be queried is indicated in brackets at the end of each class. When a class is selected here, all instances within that class can be queried.

Limit to Subclass

Use this to limit a query to a sub-class where applicable (for example, if AR Invoices is selected as the search focus, the query may be limited to a sub-class of the ARInvoice class, such as JCARInvoice).

Information

When you launch Explorer from a form and not from the File menu, the Search Focus and Limit to Subclass controls are automatically selected using the form from which Explorer was launched.

Saved Selections

Use this to save and reselect queries against a particular data class. Click the Save and Delete buttons to save/delete queries respectively.

Information

You can run a system script Assign explorer query to a user or team to make saved selections accessible to users and/or teams.

Search Filter Form

Inclusion Criteria

The search filter determines whether to apply ANY (OR) or ALL (AND) logic to the query. If All is selected, the query output must meet all the criteria specified. If Any is selected, the query output can meet any one of the criteria.

Select Property

Click this button to open a list of properties associated with the selected class. Use the Options button on the property list to select or deselect the types of attributes you want to display in the list.

Information If Show PlugIns is selected, properties relating to plugins always display at the end of the list.

When you've selected a property, you can filter it based on a range of conditions — for example, a boolean property has different filtering conditions to a date property.

To add a property to the query, click the property in the list. Drag the property to the Select Property button on the Search Filter form. The button's title updates with the property's name. Greentree recognises the property type and the filtering conditions available for selection will be for the type. For example, if documentDate is selected as a query property, these conditions are available in relation to a date type property.

Click the + button to add another filter/condition to the query. When more than one conditions exist, click the - button to remove a condition from the query.

Query Columns Form

Columns to view

You can customise the data displayed in the query results table by selecting what to view in each column. To make a selection, click the Add button to open the property list, and select, drag and drop the property into the Columns to view section. Repeat the process until you have selected all the data you want to view in the query output.

Use Add/Delete buttons to add or remove properties to view, and use Move Up/Move Down to change the sort order of columns to view.

Order by

Use this section to specify the sort order of the query.

Columns to view and Order by criteria are saved using the Save Selections feature.

Information

You cannot select Plugin, Tree, and Method properties as sort filters.
