Entering a Stock Movement Transaction
The majority of transactions are posted to the Stock Ledger from your Debtors, Creditors, Sales, or Purchase Order Ledgers. Use the Stock Movement Transactions window to write off or write on adjustments or to transfer stock between locations.
Note: If the Use old manual stock movement screen profile setting is enabled, this window displays as the default stock transaction entry window. If the setting is disabled, the Stock Movement Import window displays by default.
To enter a stock movement transaction:
-
Select Transactions > Stock > Manual Stock Movements. The Stock Transactions window displays.
-
Click New and select the stock movement type:
-
Sale – moves stock out and updates the stock sales figures. Use this type to create stock turnover history for a new implementation of Exo Business.
-
Receipt – moves stock in and updates the Average Cost and Latest Cost figures.
-
Transfer – moves stock from one location to another. A location transfer only affects the in-stock quantity. It does not affect the sales units or values or reports.
-
Adjust Out – decreases the stock level for reasons other than sales – for example: damaged stock, shrinkage, or manual stock take.
-
Adjust In – increases the stock levels. Adjustment journals only affect the in-stock quantity and does not affect your purchase totals or reports.
-
Average Cost Adjustment – adjusts the average cost of a stock item, resulting in an Adjust Out transaction at the old cost and an Adjust In transaction at the new cost.
-
-
Enter the header information – for example, Date, Location and Period to which to post the transaction.
-
Enter the transaction details – for example, Stock code, Quantity, Location, Batch Code, and GL code.
-
Right-click in the Line Details window to create a one-off stock item or to view stock levels.
-
Add narrative to the transaction by clicking the Add Narrative button on the toolbar.
-
Click Save. Exo Business prompts you to print a stock transaction document.
