Setting Job Categories

A Job Category is the second level of categorisation of a job. You can further break down a category at line level into Cost Groups, then Cost Types.

For example, Job Categories for the company Motorpartz, under a Job Type of Full Service can be Oil Change, Fault Inspection, Replace Parts, and Miscellaneous. You can also use Job Categories to signify Urgent and Non-urgent jobs.

To set up Job Categories:

  1. Select Setup > Setup Job Categories. The job category search screen displays.

  2. Click New and type the name for the Job Category.

    Job category no

    Job Costing assigns a Job Category number when you click Save.

    Job category name

    A descriptive name for the Job Category.

    Short Code

    A short code to speed entry, up to three characters.

    Gantt  bar colour

    Select the colour to use for jobs in this category on the Job Overview tab.

  3. Click Save.

To add another Job Category, click New and repeat this process.
