Use this form to load a CSV file containing state or city information into Greentree Desktop, which uses the information in the file to lookup addresses.
Click the Load States/Cities button to display the Import States/Cities form.
Each option and field on the form is described below. Mandatory options and fields are highlighted in red.
Load Template
If you have an import template set up, navigate to its folder by clicking the Browse button.
Note: The \templates contains sample state and city templates.
When you select a template, a message displays to indicate that any previously-entered values are overwritten by the values in the template.
Source File
Click the Browse button to select the source file by navigating to its folder. This is the CSV file of updated states or cities in the \bin directory.
File Type
Indicate the file type: Delimited or Fixed Width.
Start import at row
Enter the row number from which the import must start. If the file contains Headings, always start to import from row 2.
Replace existing records
Indicate whether existing data must be replaced. If you select this option, all current data are deleted.
Columns to Import/Order of Columns
You don't need to select the state fields to import from the list of Columns Available. The default selections displayed are mandatory as is the order of fields selected. These must be in the same sequence as the fields in the import file.
Column Separator
Select the character that separates the columns within your import file. The default is a comma.
Quote enclosed column data
This is the character that indicates an alphanumeric field.
Preview of file
This table displays the data formats of all fields being imported. If changes are required before continuing, click Back and update the previous data entry forms.
If everything is correct, click Next. A confirmation message displays. Click Next to proceed with the import.
Country
States and cities apply to specific countries and the country code is not included in the import file.
If you're:
Click Next to move to the next entry form if you can specify the import log and error files.
Save
Click this button to save the definition of your import file specifications as a template.
Click Finish to import the codes. A summary of import file records processed, and any records that are in error displays beneath the progress bar. You can view the error and log files to get more detail.
