Leave Without Pay
Greentree Desktop
calculates an employee's accrued annual leave if the employee:
- Opts to take more than one week of leave without pay, or
- Agrees to change the anniversary date that determines their entitlement
to annual leave. The employee receives their annual leave entitlement
at a later date in subsequent years.
This only applies to leave that the employee is accruing but is not
yet entitled to. It does not include or apply to sick leave.
Setting Employee Leave Dates
To set employee leave dates:
- On the Employee Maintenance form, select the employee and click
the Leave Without Pay button.
The Leave without pay form displays.
- Enter the Start and End dates of the employee's leave.
- When you move out of the Start
and End fields, Greentree Desktop:
- Displays the amount of leave not accrued for the employee.
- Updates the New Anniversary
Date.
- Click OK.
The Next Anniversary Date field
on the Defaults tab on the Employee
Maintenance form updates with the updated anniversary date.
Adjusting the Average Weekly Earnings Divisor
If an employee is taking leave without pay, you can change the way in
which Greentree Desktop
calculates the employee's average weekly earnings.
When an employee takes leave without pay, you can adjust the divisor
used to calculate average weekly earnings rather than move the employee’s
anniversary date. For example, if an employee takes five weeks of leave
without pay and the period for calculating average weekly pay is 52, the
divisor is reduced by four to 48 (52 weeks - 4 weeks of leave without
pay). Remember that the first week of an employee's leave without pay
is ignored.
To adjust the average weekly earnings divisor:
- On the Employee Maintenance form, select the employee and click
the Leave Without Pay button.
The Leave without pay form displays.
- Click Adjust Average Weekly Earnings
divisor.
- Enter the Start and End dates of the employee's leave.
- Greentree suggests the number of weeks or part weeks (in excess
of one week) by which to adjust the average weekly earnings divisor
in the Average Weekly Earnings divisor
is adjusted by field.
You can accept the suggestion or reduce the number of weeks in this
field. You can't increase the number of weeks.
- Click OK.
