System Shutdown

Use this form to schedule a controlled shutdown of the system, either immediately, or within a specified period of time. Use this form if you must shut Greentree Desktop down for maintenance (for example, the application of a package), and need to ensure that all users are logged out of Greentree Desktop. If your users are spread across locations, this is the safest way to ensure a controlled shutdown occurs.

Options Reference

Each option and field on the form is described below. Mandatory options and fields are highlighted in red.

Close all Users/Immediately

If you select this option, users are forced to exit Greentree Desktop when you click the Do it button.

If neither Close all Users nor Close all queue processors are selected, then nothing happens when you click Do it.

If Close all Users is not selected and Close all queue processors is selected, Greentree Desktop checks whether or not the processors are started. If they are, it stops them immediately when Do it is clicked.

Close all Users/After a warning

If you select this option, you can enter a warning period of minutes or seconds. users are exited out of Greentree Desktop after the warning period has expired (which commences when the Do it button is clicked). A message displays to indicate a shutdown is in process, and to notify users of the warning period.

If neither Close all Users nor Close all queue processors is selected, then nothing happens when you click Do it.

If Close all Users is not selected, and Close all queue processors is selected, Greentree Desktop checks whether or not the processors are started. If they are, it stops them after the warning period.

Note: This process does not stop the services or close the database or application server if they were started.

You can also schedule a system shutdown using the Task Scheduler.
