Extracting Data

Use JADE Query to extract information easily and quickly from the database. Query output can be to the form, printer or disk. You can also save your query to run it again in the future.

When you create a query, a list of all JADE classes displays. You must select the class from which information is to be extracted for enquiry.

For example, assume to run a query to retrieve a list of suppliers that belong to Branch code 01.

Query Selection

On the Query Selection form, select New, and then select the Supplier class. The JADE Query Selection Criteria form displays:

You must specify what the conditions of your query are. In this example, myBranch.code must be 01. Select the branch code from the list of class properties, and click Set. This returns your selection to the base of the form, and you can specify the condition — for example, and/or/not conditions linked with <=, =, >=, Incl, <, or >. Once the condition is defined, click Add to add the condition to the query.

Print Field Contents

Once the query conditions have been set, you must define the fields you want the query to output.

Use the list of class properties to select the properties to output to the query. In this example, the supplier code, alpha, name, and branch code output. Use Set to confirm selection of each property. When your selection is confirmed, click Do Query to run the query.

Query Results

The results of the query display on the form. This data represents suppliers from all companies set up in your Greentree Desktop system, with a Branch = 01. You can print the output save it to disk. When you close this form, Greentree Desktop prompts you to save the query.
