Password Preferences
Greentree uses these preferences when users are logging into Greentree. Only the super user can access these settings.
Options Reference
Each option and field on the form is described below. Mandatory options and fields are highlighted in red.
Allow security settings changes at User level
Select this option to set permissions at the user level. Selecting this option also allows user permissions to be inherited from their teams. You can only deselect this option if the Ignore for security settings option on the Team Maintenance form is also deselected.
Note: If the Advanced password management option is not selected, then the features outlined will not apply.
Complex Password
If you select this option, there must be at least one special and one numeric character in the password — for example, catwa1k#.
If you don't select this option, there must be at least one special or one numeric character in the password:
- Special characters allowed are ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( )
- Numeric characters 0-9
Enforce password history
If you select this option:
- Last specifies a number of passwords.
- Passwords for # days specifies a number of days.
Note: The super user controls the password history options.
Pre-expire passwords
Select this option to pre-expire all passwords set by the administrator. This includes new passwords and passwords that have been reset.
A message asking the user to change their password displays when they try to log into Greentree Desktop.
Password age
This is the period, in days, until the current password expires.
Minimum password length
This is the minimum length of the user's password — for example, eight characters.
Password expiry warning from
This is the number of days before expiration that the user is warned the password is going to expire.
Account lockout threshold
This is the number of times a user can try to log into Greentree Desktop before they are locked out. If the user exceeds the threshold, their access is disabled and must be reset by the super user.
Account lockout duration
This is the time the user's access is locked for if the super user has not rest the account.
