Main Tab

Supply Chain Management can generate codes for each item. If you select the option to automatically generate codes, Greentree Desktop sequentially generates numbers and allocates them to SCM items.

Each SCM item has its own counter, which numbers SCM items to start at the number you select. You can also specify a prefix for the code, or pad the code to enable for leading zeros. You can also view the value of the next code to generate.

Options Reference

Each option and field on the form is described below. Mandatory options and fields are highlighted in red.

Default View

Select which records you want displayed as a default when you first open any SCM Maintenance form.

  • All - All records are available, no limitation based on the owner of the record.
  • Mine - Only the records that are assigned to you are available.
  • Team - Only the records that are assigned to your team(s) are available.

The View item does not change the security settings for individual users.

Auto Generate Codes

Use this form to select whether codes are automatically generated or have to be entered. Codes are required for all SCM items and must be unique. The table contains this information:

  • SCM item
  • Maximum length of the Code field in the database. You cannot modify this field.
  • Enable: If you select this option, Greentree Desktop generates the code.
  • Pad: This field indicates the number of digits to use to represent the numeric part of the code. For example, if the Prefix is CON and Pad is 4, the code is CON0001.
  • Prefix: If the code is automatically-generated with a prefix, enter the prefix in this field.
  • Next: This field shows the value (number) of the next code to create.
  • Set Next: This setting enables you to manipulate the next code to be automatically-generated. For example, if you set the next code for a requisition and save your updates on the Module Control form, then the next requisition created (without manual entry of code), is created with the code entered in Set Next.

Note: Codes must be unique. Users can create new records while you're editing the next code on the Module Control form. If the Set Next value has already been exceeded, a duplicate code message displays upon saving the new record.
