Employee Wizard


The Employee wizard sends JC employees to an existing Microsoft Project plan as resources, updating the employee name and standard charge rates. This wizard is enabled for users in a company if the JC Employee Maintenance menu option is available.

Step 1 - Select plan name

Select the Microsoft Project plan to which to update job cost employees.

File name

Enter, or select from a list of recently used files, the name of the file (including the path name) to work with.

Browse

Click this button, or double click in the File name field to find the Microsoft Project file.

Next

Click this button once you have selected the Microsoft Project file.

Cancel

Click this button to exit the employee wizard.

Step 2 - Select Greentree Desktop employee required

Branch

Select All to include employees from all branches of their profit centres. If All is not selected, you can select a single branch by either entering the branch code, or double clicking in the Single field to display a lookup table of branches to select from.

Employee

Select All to include all employees. If All is not selected, you can select an employee by either entering the employee code, or double clicking in the Single field to display a lookup table of employees to select from.

Employee Type

Select All to include all employee types. If All is not selected, you can select an employee type by either entering the employee type code, or double clicking in the Single field to display a lookup table of employee types to select from.

Lookup

If you double click in a selection field, a lookup table displays. You can select an object by its code or description.

Update Greentree Desktop Employee Rates for existing employees in plan

Select this option to update the cost and charge rates on existing resources in the plan to Greentree Desktop employee rates. If this option is selected, then Cost Table A and Table B on the plan's resources are updated with the employee rates as:

  • Table A (the Cost rate) - If the employee has a default activity code, the resource cost rate is an accumulation of the JC employee type's Base Rate, and Rates 1 - 6, depending on which are selected for the JC activity code. If there is no default activity code, then the resource cost rate is the JC employee type's Base Rate.
  • Table B (the Sell rate) - This is the JC employee type's Sell Rate. If the Update Greentree Desktop Employee Rates for existing employees in plan option is not selected, the rates on the existing resources are not updated.

Note: When creating new plan resources from Greentree, the rates are always updated.

The selections use the or operation to show employees belonging to Branch 03 and show those with employee code FRED and show those with the employee type ACCMAN.

Click this button to go back to Step 1.

Next

Click this button to go to Step 3 once you have entered your selection criteria. This opens the Microsoft Project plan (if not already open), and displays the selection table shown below in Step 3.

Cancel

Click this button to exit the employee wizard.

Step 3 - Select Greentree Desktop Employees

The table in the left panel lists the employees found based on your selections in Step 2. The table in the right panel lists the employees you select to be sent from Greentree Desktop to the Microsoft Project plan.

Use the arrow keys to select and deselect employees for inclusion in the process.

Hide existing employees in plan

Select this option to prevent existing employees from being displayed.

Hide non Greentree Desktop employees

Select this option to prevent non-Greentree employees from being displayed.

Back

Click this button to go back to Step 2.

Finish

Click this button to run the process.

Cancel

Click this button to exit the employee wizard.
