Text Maintenance
Use this form to write text notes about an item. The notes can default to sales order, AR invoice, or purchase order entry lines, and print on packing slips and invoices (if the transaction Narration field is selected to print on those reports). You can also print text notes on purchase orders or other related documents.
Options Reference
Each option and field on the form is described below. Mandatory options and fields are highlighted in red.
Code
This is the inventory item code against which you are entering text. It defaults in read-only format if you open the Text Maintenance form from the Inventory Item Maintenance form and an item was selected. Otherwise, enter or select the item to view or edit.
Description
This is the inventory item description.
Text type
Select a text type from one that is defined on the Text Type Maintenance form. This is a user-defined type that you can use to indicate the nature of the text.
You can select a text type for an inventory line during sales order entry, AR invoice entry, or purchase order entry. The text that is assigned to the item for the selected text type is copied to the transaction line narration field.
Allow editing of text at entry time
The text that is assigned to the item for the selected text type is copied to the line narration field. If you select this option, you can edit the narration text that defaults. If you don't select this option, the narration is read only.
Is for sales order
If this is selected, the text type and related text is available for selection during sales order transaction entry.
Is for purchase order
If this is selected, the text type and related text is available for selection when entering a purchase order.
Text
Enter up to 2000 characters of text here. If there is default text associated with the text type that was selected, it populates this field when the text type is selected. You can change the default text, and add new text.
Add Text
Click this button to save the current text line and add a new line.
Table
All text lines of the item displays in this table. You can enter or edit line details into the table instead of using the form. Press Shift-F2 while on a line to delete it.
