Tree and User Field Assignment

If you're using serial/lot trees and user fields, you can assign values to new serial/lot numbers while entering transactions that have an increasing effect on inventory and if a serial/lot number is being created when entering a transaction. If a serial/lot number already exists, it is selected when you enter a transaction rather than entered as new, it is assumed tree or user field values have previously been assigned.

Tree assignment and User field assignment columns are available in the serial/lot number entry table. They only displays if trees or user fields have been set up and use the conditions outlined above.

To assign tree branches to serial/lot numbers, click the tree icon in the Tree assignment column. The Tree Assignment form displays. To assign a branch, double click in the Value column next to a tree and the branches of the tree display.

Select the branch and click Select to update the selection on the Tree Assignment form. Continue to select branches and click OK to return to the serial/lot entry form.

The short codes of the assigned branches updates to the Tree assignment column.

You can't assign a branch unless it has a short code.

If you know the short code of the tree branch to assign, you can enter it into the Tree assignment field without having to use the tree icon to access detail. To assign more than one branch to the serial/lot number, enter the short codes in comma delimited format — for example, GROW1, MAC, WIN.

You don't need to assign tree branches to new serial/lot numbers, unless one or more of the serial/lot trees set up on the Serial/Lot Tree Maintenance form is a mandatory tree. In addition, if a mandatory tree exists, the Auto-generate serial/lot numbers feature is not enabled.

When the serial/lot details and the transaction are saved, tree assignments updates to the Custom tab on the Serial Lot Maintenance form.

To assign user field values to serial/lot numbers, click the User fields button in the User field assignment column. The Serial Lot User Fields form displays. Enter the values into the Value column and click OK to save values and return to the serial/lot entry form.

When the serial/lot details and the transaction are saved, user field values updates to the Custom tab on the IN Serial Lot Enquiry form.
