Quality Control

Use this module to enable distribution and manufacturing customers to:

• Automate their quality control processes for serial/lot controlled items.
• Define non-inventory items and their associated tests.

You can use this module to create classifications, design tests within the classifications, and then assign them to serial/lot controlled inventory items and user-defined non-inventory items.

When a serial/lot is created (for example, using purchase order entry or factory order receipt entry), its status defaults to a nominated Quality Control (QC) status, and a series of user defined tests and specifications are assigned to it. On successful completion of those tests, plus optional secondary approval, the status of the serial/lot items updates to active. If any of the tests fail, the serial/lot remains unavailable for transaction processing unless specifically released by an approver.

You can also design and use tests to monitor and approve a range of environmental or process-based measures that may not be specifically related to inventory, such as the temperature and humidity of a freezer. These are set up and controlled as non-inventory QC items.
