Delivery Method Maintenance

Use this form to set up and maintain delivery methods used in the Advanced Inventory Reordering process. Delivery methods are assigned to suppliers, and the sales forecasting periods expected future demand used in the reorder process depend on the lead times and order cycles for delivery methods.

Delivery Method

Enter or select the delivery method name, up to 30 characters. For example, Airfreight or Road.

Default Lead Time (type) and Frequency

Enter the default expected time between sending a purchase order to the supplier, and receiving the goods for the delivery method, and the frequency for it.

For example, the lead time type is days and the frequency is 10 - this indicates that the lead time is 10 days. The lead time, with the order cycle, has an effect on the number of projected future sales periods needed when the reorder process runs.

Default Order Cycle and Frequency

Enter the default order cycle and frequency of the delivery method. This is the time between sending purchase orders to your suppliers.

For example, an order cycle of weeks and a frequency of 2 indicates that you create and send purchase orders once every two weeks. The order cycle, with the lead time, have an effect on the number of projected future sales periods required when the reorder process is run.

Parent Method

Use this option to link the delivery method to a parent delivery method. The parent method becomes the major ordering cycle, while the child delivery method becomes the minor ordering cycle. Defining this relationship allows the reorder process to make intelligent estimates of inventory required for a minor cycle.

For example, if you define Airfreight as a child method (minor cycle) which is weekly, and Seafreight as the parent (major cycle) method, which is monthly, when the reorder process runs airfreight orders take into account inventory requirements for the next sea freight delivery, and the next airfreight delivery.
