Date Conversion

Use the date conversion functions to convert standard Excel dates to Greentree Desktop financial years and periods. You can specify a report date, such as 31/03/2019, in cells. You can also specify relative periods, such as 1, to retrieve financial information all driven from a single date. The calendar used is the one specified on the General Ledger Module Control form.

The year and period information returned by these calls can be used in subsequent function calls that require Greentree Desktop financial year and period parameters, such as the gtGLActBal and gtGLBudBal functions, which retrieve account balances.

These functions are available:

Convert Date to Greentree Desktop Financial Year - gtCVYear

Converts a date into a Greentree Desktop financial year with relative referencing, plus or minus a number of periods from the date.

Convert Date to Greentree Desktop Financial Period - gtCVPeriod

Converts a date into a Greentree Desktop financial period with relative referencing, plus or minus a number of periods from the date.

Example of use

You can use these function calls in financial reports to specify the correct period and year that General Ledger financial information is to be retrieved from. You can use the same spreadsheet for each financial period by changing the dates in the spreadsheet cells that these functions calls are using. FREE retrieves the financial information for the period that the new date belongs to.

Retrieve Current GL Posting Period - gtGLCurrentPostingPeriod

Returns the current posting period and year descriptions — for example, MAR 2019.
